You and Adrien walked out of school together, chatting, and laughing when you messed up a word. You stopped at the curb by the road, where you both waited for your rides home. Chloe and Sabrina were quickly approaching behind you. Adrien seemed to notice them and his face flushed pale."You no like her?"
"'You don't like her'," he corrected respectfully. "And I do like her, I mean, she's my friend. It's just very complicated." You nodded understandably. "That's my ride." He pointed to a silver car pulling around the curb, it was driven by a big beefy man in a suit. Adrien rubbed the back of his head, avoiding eye contact with his body guard.
"I'll see you tomorrow," you said happily.
He smirked down at you. "Are you comfortable with French greetings?" You knew he was talking about the kisses on the cheek, but you were nervous and unsure of how to respond. "Hey, don't worry about it," he cut in before you could answer. "Maybe some other time when you feel more comfortable in France."
Before you could respond to him the car was in front, and he was told to get in.
"Bye, Adrien."
"Bye, (Y/N). It was so nice to meet you." He was sincere, and he didn't seem upset at you. You waved goodbye and as soon as you turned around Chloe was in your face.
"Oh, so you've gone and made friends with my Adrikins, I see." She crossed her arms.
"Don't worry." You took one last look at his car before it turned a corner. "He was just being nice." As you turned back to look at Chloe a man caught your eye. He was old, and it seemed as though he had dropped a bag and all its contents.
You walked over to him and grabbed the bag.
"(Y/N)? What are you doing? The limousine is here!" You ignored her and handed the man his bag, then, as he held it you placed his things back inside: a pack of tissues, sunglasses, a pen, and a small flip phone.
Without a single word exchanged with the Chinese man you ran off to Chloe and got into the limousine, Sabrina closing the door behind you.

You got back to the hotel and went straight to your bedroom to get your homework started before dinner was held. It wasn't much; the teachers went easy on you since you didn't speak French.
But, the paper with Adrien's phone number burned it your pocket. You had so much fun talking to him and Nino, you were hoping to hang out, little did you know how difficult that would actually be to arrange.
You had your own bedroom, which wasn't too common for foreign exchange students. It was on the top floor, across from Chloe's. Hers was the Imperial suite, and your's was the Royal Suite. The only difference was that hers was a mirror image of yours.
So you both entered through grand double doors of mahogany oak into a foyer with beautiful white floors and a table in the center with a vase of fresh roses.
To your right was a large bedroom with an elegant bathroom. It had a deep sink and a long mirror, along with a white bathtub and a seperate shower that had jets lining the walls. The bedroom had a plush king bed decorated with frilly pillows that you didn't have to arrange- during dinner the hotel staff would come fix your bed so you could sleep, and while you were at school the would rearrange the covers and pillows.
On the left of the foyer was a living room area with a flat screen TV mantled to the wall. The couches were soft and the coffee table was full of french magazines.
When you sat your bag down you noticed a small red box with black markings on the lid. Assuming it was from Andre you opened it up.
A puff of smoke erupted from the box and a small animal flew out and began to whizz around your room. You caught small flashes of a brown and orange creature with large ears and wings. You screamed, dropping the box. As it hit the ground a gold ring pinged against the floor and rolled around.
You ran to the door, but the creature appeared in front of you and for the first time you realized it was a fuzzy bat.
"My name is Vlaad."
You tried to scream again but he covered your mouth.
"You're talking!"
"Yes, I know."
"You're a talking... a talking... Ugh! I don't know the name in French!"
"Bat. I'm a bat imawk." His eyes were bright orange, and though he had wings he wasn't using them to fly. Vlaad was actually floating. "You don't speak French?"
You shook your head. "I know only basic French."
"Good job, Master Fu, picking someone who doesn't even know how to speak the language of the city she's supposed to save." He spoke quickly and quietly, so you didn't know exactly what he said. "Okay," he said to you. "It looks like you're going to have to be the silent, strong type on missions." His Romanian accent didn't help you understand him any better, and you had a feeling he actually knew how to speak English.
"Missions? What are you talking about?" You backed up against a desk, knocking pencils over.
"Helping Ladybug and Chat Noir, you know? The saviours of Paris? Awesome superheros?"
You shook your head violently, pursing your lips and raising your eyebrows. "I'm just a foreign exchange student from (country)."
"Don't worry. Master Fu chose you."
"Why?"
"Because Ladybug and Chat Noir are suffering, and they need help. It's getting harder for them as Hawk Moth gets smarter, and though they save Paris, they leave a lot of destruction that locals can't fix," he said solemnly. "That's why the Bat Horrendous was taken out, so that you could fix everything."
"Who's Hawk Moth? The bad guy?"
Vlaad nodded. "Yes, he akumatizes people- which means he takes over their free will and turns them into villains."
"So, this Horrendous... Ladybug and Chat Noir have one, too? Right?"
"Not quite," Vlaad said, shaking his head. "They have Miraculouses, but the Yin and Yang dictates that everything needs to be in balance." You nodded in understanding, so he continued. "Ladybug creates, Chat Noir destroys. That's Yin and Yang, but even that created an unbalance- the Miraculous needed a balance, so the Horrendous was created. To balance Chat Noir as a Miraculous of destruction, you have the Horrendous of repair."
You felt dizzy. How could you be sure you weren't hallucinating? There was no possible way for you to be talking to a bat that flew out of a box. You glanced around, the glint of the ring caught your eye and you went over to pick it up.
"Put it on," Vlaad instructed. You slid it on to your left middle finger. "When you say 'Vlaad, ears out!' you'll transform into a bat superhero. To use your abilities of repair you have to say 'Revamp', and all destruction caused will be fixed."
You blinked a few times before taking in a deep breath. "Vladd, ears out!"
