"Epic, Chloé!" Nino growled. He threw his clipboard on the ground and placed his hands on his hips. "Just epic! What are we supposed to do now without our leading actress?"
"Who needs her, anyway?" Chloe scoffed. "She was totally lame!" Sabrina nodded in agreement.
"You're lame!" Ivan snapped. He came back from comforting Mylène.
"Mylène is totally awesome! You're just... you're just..." you bit your lip and breathed out in frustration. Adrien rubbed your back to ease your frustration but it didn't work. You shoved his hand away and stormed off to a desk. "Jealous!" you yelled, finally thinking of the word.
Ivan cracked his knuckles and pointed at Chloe. "Mylène is crying her eyes out on the bathroom thanks to you!"
Marinette jumped in between them and tried to calm them down. "Hey, hey! Everyone chill out!" she ordered. "You're right, Chloé is lame. But fighting isn't gonna bring Mylène back. I'm the producer, and I'm gonna do everything in my power to finish filming tonight!"
Max took out his phone and pulled up the film festival's website. "The deadline for the Parisian Student Short Film Festival is tomorrow evening, precisely 26 hours, 15 minutes and 14, 13 seconds from now." He pushed up his glasses and looked to Markov, who nodded in agreement with his math.
Marinette sighed deeply and rubbed her face. "Thank you, Max!" she whined sarcastically. 'And we still have editing, post-sound, soundtrack..."
"And who's gonna take Mylene's part?" Adrien asked. You looked up from your desk to see that everyone was staring at you.
"What?" you asked with wide eyes. "Oh no! No way! I can't speak French worth a--"
"Your French is great, (Y/N)," Adrien cut in. You buried your face in your hands and shook your head.
Nino grinned. "The audience would love it! A hot foreign chick defeating a monster?! Film gold!" he cried out happily. He ran over to you and punched on your shoulder a few times energetically. You blushed a dark red and ducked your head.
"Don't push her, Nino. I don't want to make her uncomfortable," Adrien said calmly, sending a friendly wink your way. You smiled softly, feeling the tension in your forehead loosen.
"So that leaves me, of course!" Chloe sang out, smirking with narrowed eyes. She twirled around, showing off her external beauty, but it was rotted by her sour attitude.
Alya stepped forward, holding up the script and waving it in Chloe's face. "You haven't even read the script!" Alya stuck out her bottom lip and crossed her arms.
"Of course I have!" Chloe said, rolling her eyes. "The first scene anyway. I can even tell you that it ends with a kiss between Agent Smith and Officer Jones!" She clapped her hands together and swooned, staring at Adrien lovingly.
Marinette squealed angrily and jumped up in surprise. "You wrote that?!" she yelled at Alya, who quickly shook her head.
"Hold up!" Alya flipped through her script and frowned. "I didn't write that!" She pointed to the last couple lines of her script, glaring at Nino.
"Uh... I wrote it." Nino tittered, adjusting the back of his hat nervously. "It was just a little tweak. You know, to move the story forward."
"What!?" Alya shrieked. "You changed my script without even telling me? That's low!" She pointed to Nino accusingly.
"Wait a minute! You mean our script!" he defended.
You stood from the desk and took the script from Alya, reading over it rather quickly. A kiss at the end of the scene didn't make sense. And just to be sure you took it over to Adrien and began to ask him questions about the plot.
Chloe snatched the script out of your hand and threw it over her shoulder. "Oh, who cares who wrote what? We've got to film this thing, right?"
Adrien grabbed you by the waist as you lunged forward to scratch at her, and I only made you madder. "Let me go!" He said a firm 'no' and held you in place until you calmed down enough to stay in your place.
"Adrien and Chloé kissing cannot happen! No way!" Marinette screeched. She obviously tried to keep it a secret between her and Alya, but she wasn't quiet at all.
You glanced over at Adrien ad rolled your eyes. "I'm telling you, she likes you."
Without missing a beat he looked you straight in the eye and said, "I don't care." It took you by surprise. You blinked a few times and looked to see if anyone else had experienced the intensity you had just felt, but it seemed no one had told you.
The sudden change in his demeanor startled you. He seemed irritated. It was as if he grew sick of everyone trying to pair him up with Marinette. And in that moment you swore off your mission to help Marinette. Even if it meant you and Chat Noir would never have a chance, you weren't willing to hurt Adrien.
'Hold on!" Marinette called out, breaking your focus. She ran over to you and Adrien, smiling. "We can't let Mylène just leave just like that, it's... wrong! We all chose her to play the leading female role!" She smiled with determination and you realized how selfish she was being. "And... we're all in this movie together! She needs our support. I'm gonna go find her and bring her back."
It was an act... Marinette couldn't care less about Mylène. She was worried about Chloe and Adrien. She was willing to do anything necessary to have him, just like Chloe. Except Chloe's a wolf, and Marinette's a wolf in sheep's clothing.
Now you felt the need to save Adrien from her. To protect him.
"Always trying to save the day, aren't you, Marinette? Good luck finding the filthy hole that scaredy-cat's hiding in!" Chloe growled.
You inhaled deeply. Why were girls so crazy for Adrien? All the girls who were in love with him were borderline psychotic. It almost made you afraid to sleep in his house at the thought of an admirer breaking in to kill the only girl who lived with him.
Almost.
