Sasuke's POV
*BEEP BEEP*
I heard my alarm clock go off, I reluctantly got up to turn it off, then got up and got dressed for school, then making breakfast. While eating my cereal, I realized that today the Dobe and I are going to play ball with Guy-sensei. Which made me think about the Dobe. He had a hella hard childhood, since his parents died when he was a baby. I could kinda sympathize with him because my father was usually busy with work since he's the police chief here, and my mother worked as a receptionist for the police headquarters. I remember when I first played basketball against him, around nine years ago.
*FLASHBACK*
"Hey Duck Butt!!"
I remember Naruto running up to me in the park, and he had a ball with a logo that said "Lakers" on it.
"Hey, let's play some basketball! I bet I'll win!," he claimed.
"Hn. Alright. But make it, take it," I replied.
I started with the ball, then proceeded to score on him twelve straight times, and won easily.
"Hey, that's not fair!!" He was mad since I was a good shooter and he was terrible at defense.
"Hn. Life isn't fair."
"You got that right." He changed his tone, and I realized who I was talking to.
"Hey, let's play again!! This time, I'm sure I'll win! And I start with the ball!" I was honestly surprised with how he can keep up a cheerful mood even when shit like that is brought up.
He got the ball, then attempted a ridiculous shot that looked like something only that Kobe guy, his idol, would shoot. Only difference was, he missed. Badly.
Then I got the ball and scored on him again on my way to another easy win. No sweat. I don't get why he likes Kobe at all. He's just a ball hog who doesn't pass. Honestly I prefer a guy like Trevor Ariza. He knows his role, and goes about his business quietly.
"Well, Naruto, I have to go now."
"Alright, Sasuke! One day I'll be at your level, I promise that!!"
*END OF FLASHBACK*
I played with the Dobe a couple more times after that. He got better- grittier on defense, smarter on offense. He even stopped me a couple of times on defense. But I still beat him. Enough said.
As I got to my locker, I was greeted by a blonde-haired, blue-eyed bundle of energy.
"Hey Sasuke!!"
"What do you want, Dobe?"
"You remember what today is, Teme?"
"Yes I do."
"Can't wait to finally beat you, Duck Butt!!!"
"Heh. We'll see about that."
"So Sasuke, how's your fan club?"
"Annoying, as always."
"So, you think the Sixers made the right choice taking Jahlil Okafor?" He was talking about the NBA draft that happened this past June.
"Nah. At best he's gonna be a role player. He can't do anything offensively, and I don't think that his defense is as good as advertised. He'd probably be good if this was the '80s, but it isn't."
"Yeah, he'll be a bust. They should've taken the Porzingis guy. He's gonna be a stud."
"And what makes you say that?"
"The guy is fucking 7'3", 240 lbs, shoots the 3 and dribbles like a point guard. Who does that?" I'll admit, he is a freak. "I mean, you've seen anyone like him in the league? He's got future star written on him."
"Are you sure? Uniqueness doesn't mean everything."
He never got a chance to retort something, because the bell then rang, so we got our stuff ready in five minutes then got to first period with Kakashi-sensei.
