The next Friday
Naruto's POV
It was now near the end of the day, and time was running out. I planned on asking Hinata, and I imposed myself on doing this today. Right now I was in the school bathroom, composing myself, and getting myself ready.
The past Monday
Starbucks
I was at work with Rashad, and since no one was there at the time, I asked him a question. "Yo Rashad," I said, getting his attention. "Well, the dance for school is coming up soon, and I was thinking about asking someone out." His eyebrows raised, and he said, "Well, look who's growing up! Who are you gonna ask out?" My face turned a little red as I told him. His eyebrows once again raised up in surprise. "I knew it. You liked Hinata." I continued to blush. "Y-yeah. Anyways, do you have any advice, y'know, for, um, asking her out?" I could sense my face getting redder by the second.
"Oh, sure," he told me, "just be yourself. Don't try to be what you're not, cuz nobody appreciates a fake." I nodded my head. "If she says yes, then great. If she doesn't, just know it isn't the end of the world. But I think she will."
"What makes you think that?" I asked. "Well, every time I see you together, Hinata is always blushing the moment she lays her eyes on you. And she also always gravitates towards you too." That made me feel better. "Ok, and thank you so much, Rashad," I told him. He smiled, and said, "No problem, Naruto. Now go get 'er."
I saw a customer walk in. As I got up to take his order, I heard Rashad murmur, "Dammit, I feel old now."
That Wednesday
Fukuoka, Japan
We were now at practice, with Sasuke and I working on shooting again, similar to last week. While we was working on our shot, I asked Sasuke, "Yo, I made my mind up." He looked at me and said, "About what?"
"I'm gonna ask Hinata out," I told him. "And I need some advice." He nodded his head and said, "About what?" I continued. "Well, I'm kinda confused on how I should approach her, and y'know, shoot my shot." He nodded his head, after he swished a shot. As I took a shot, he said, "Easy. All you do is go up to her, and say something along the lines of, 'Hey, there's a party at Sasuke's house next week. I wanted to know if you'd want to come with me there,' or something like that. I dunno. And also, just be you. It's not ideal, but it's better than selling out." I watched my shot sink into the basket, then took a second to comprehend what Sasuke said. Then I took a huge breath to not get worked up, and nodded my head. "Ok. Thanks for the advice." Then Coach Takashi called us in, and we continued the practice.
Friday morning
I set my alarm a little earlier than normal, though I didn't need it, since I had another, um, weird dream. After I got up, took a bath and finished getting ready for school, I laid out my master plan. I was going to wear something a little formal, yet casual at the same time, because I gotta look kinda nice, y'know? Then I would come up, somehow get her attention, and try to ask her out. If she rejects me, I'll be hurt, but I'll try my best to not let it put me down. And I might give her a lavender flower or something too, because I remember her saying something about how she likes them. After I reaffirmed this, I took a deep breath, packed up my stuff, and left for school.
During the day, I got some compliments about my fit, and somebody even asked me out to the party, which I obviously had to decline. I also got yelled at by Kakashi-sensei for "daydreaming" or something like that, but I carried on with my day. And in lunch, as I was eating, I overheard a conversation between what sounded like Hinata and someone else.
"Hey Hinata," I heard the first person say, "You gonna go to the party that Sasuke's hosting?" I heard her say, "No, Ino, I don't think I will. Nobody has asked me." I could hear the pain in her voice, and I don't know why, but I felt really sad then.
"Don't worry, Hinata. It's not the end of the world. You could always be asked out next week. Or, you could ask someone out, too. Hell, you could even go alone, and it'll probably still be a blast, since we're all gonna be there." That immediately brightened the mood, but it sounded like they was leaving, so that was all I pretty much heard.
Finally, it was time. I quickly went to the bathroom, to, y'know, use the bathroom. After that, I washed my hands, and went over my plan once more. Then I took out the lavender flower out of my bag, took a deep breath, and finally went out.
Hinata's POV
I was getting my stuff from my locker, in the hoodie that Naruto-kun bought me. Even though it was very large on me, it was really comfortable and warm, which reminded me of Naruto-kun. Speaking of Naruto-kun, I've started to have some rather eventful dreams in which Naruto-kun was... more than a friend, and I don't know how to feel. I know that there was likely no chance of that actually happening in real life, since he's too cool for me. But a girl can dream. I also started thinking about what I was gonna do next week on the weekend, since we don't have a clan meeting that week and I'm probably not going to Sasuke's party, even though Ino tried to persuade me.
All of my thoughts were cut short when I heard a familiar voice right behind me. "H-hinata?" I slowly turned around, and I saw him. He wore a white tee with a black overcoat and some jeans, and he looked hot. I froze for a moment, then managed to collect myself long enough to say, "Oh h-hey, Naruto-kun." I blushed, looking at all of his facial features, which included the cat-whiskers on his cheeks that looked so cute. I wanted to play with them so badly, but somehow, I held on.
He took a deep breath, as if he was about to read a whole speech, which piqued my interest. Then he said, "W-well, you know about the party that Sasuke is hosting next week?" I knew, and I felt like I knew where this was going. Naruto-kun was probably sent by Ino to help her persuade to get me to go. "Y-yeah, I know," I replied, and waited for his reason on why I should go.
"W-well, I was j-just wondering. Uh, w-would you like to g-go out w-with me t-to the d-dance?"
