Naruto's POV
*BEEP BEEP*
I heard the sound of my alarm clock, groaned, turned it off, and got up. It was 7 in the morning , and I had school in like 45 minutes for the first time since break started. And I felt pretty damn tired, due to the fact that my jet lag hasn't completely wore off yet, so I had a restless night. And for the 30 minutes that I was able to get some rest, that was disrupted because of another dream about Hinata. Let's just say it was ... more vivid than before, y'know? I don't really wanna go into it.
Anyways, after I turned off my alarm and finished putting on my clothes, I started getting my bag ready. I put my books in my backpack, then put my signed Porzingis shirt and the James Harden shirt I bought for Hinata for her birthday in the spare pocket. Then I trudged my way to school. On my way, I nearly got ran over, which helped me focus and put me on alert. I managed to make it the rest of the way without a problem, and was in front of school in no time.
When I entered the hallway, I saw Shikamaru at his locker, and went over to him. "Hey Shikamaru!" I tried to be as cheery as I could be. Shikamaru perked up, and greeted me back.
Then I saw Sasuke out of the corner of my eye, and I said out loud, "Hey Duck Butt!" His eyebrow twitched a bit, but then he reverted back to his usual, nondescript face. "Hn," was all he had in reply.
Then, the three of us talked about our breaks. Sasuke told us he stayed home and helped his dad with police work, and Shikamaru went to see family in Osaka. Then I told them about my stay in New York, including seeing the Empire State Building and the game. I was about to show them my Kristaps Porzingis signed shirt, but then I saw her.
She somehow looked even more beautiful, even though she was wearing the same school uniform. She had the same cute, small smile on her face. When I saw her, I felt my heart pound and cheeks redden. "Uh, Dobe?," Duck Butt said, which got me out of my trance. "Why were you staring at Hinata like that for so long?"
I noticed that Shikamaru already left. "Huh?"
"You were staring at Hinata for the past two minutes, and you cheeks were beet red," he told me.
"Oh, uh, it w-was nothing," I said, stuttering a bit. Sasuke narrowed his eyes for a bit, then just said, "Alright, whatever. Bell rings in a minute," then left. Then I got my stuff and went to Kakashi-sensei's class.
7 hours later
The bell just rang, and that signaled the end of last period. I went to my locker, and got my stuff. Then I remembered that I had to give Hinata her birthday gift. I missed her birthday party, do I promised I would get her something from New York. So the day after the game, Pervy Sage and I went to the NBA store to get a Houston Rockets hoodie that had James Harden's name on it for her.
As I started towards her locker, I felt my heart beating faster and a wave of nervousness took over me. I don't know why, but it happens every time time that I even think about Hinata.
I managed to calm myself down, and I continued. The hallway was completely empty, so I called out to her. "Hey Hinata!," I said. She turned around, a hint of red in her face. "H-hey N-naruto," she replied.
I blushed a bit, then got back to the subject. "So, remember the time that I said I'd get a late birthday gift for you from New York?" I then took out the James Harden hoodie.
Her eyes widened. "T-this is ..."
"Happy late birthday, Hinata-chan." When I saw the smile on her face, my heart warmed almost instantly and that amazing feeling came back. "T-thank you, N-naruto-kun," I heard her say. I felt my face blush again, and my heartrate increased, as it always seems to do when I'm around her. "Oh, uh, no p-problem," I managed to stammer out, with my hands on the back of my head.
Then she put the hoodie on, and I couldn't stop blushing. She looked... beautiful, and I started getting flashbacks from that dream when I was in New York. Somehow, I was able to excuse myself and get to the bathroom before anyone noticed anything.
When I got to the stall, I pulled down my pants, and was surprised. Let's just say that some things were in the mood at that moment, and they seemed pretty long. I waited until things subsided, then used the bathroom, washed my hands, and went home.
4 hours later- Fukuoka, Japan
Duck Butt, Shikamaru and I were at practice. Coach Takashi made us stretch at first, then moved on to calisthenics and then some running. Most of the team was relatively tired, but I was still pretty fresh. "How are you still not tired?," Shikamaru asked me, visibly gassed. "I dunno, I guess I'm just built different," was all I had to reply.
Then we moved on to shooting. Right now, I'm really inconsistent with my 3 point and midrange shots. Some days I can't miss, other days I can't buy a bucket. Today was one of those days. Shot after shot clanked off of the rim, and I felt frustrated. Then, I felt a tap on my shoulder.
"What do you want, Duck Butt?," I said, after I looked behind me. "Well, it's pretty obvious that you can't shoot," he replied.
"No shit, Sherlock," I retorted. Sasuke rolled his eyes, then continued. "Well, do you want help with shooting, or do you want to just be terrible your whole life?"
I considered this. If I could be better at shooting, maybe the rest of my game would open up. I was already a good at attacking the rim, and I was a decent playmaker and defended well, according to Coach Takashi. And I wanted to get better, y'know?
"Alright, whatever. Enlighten me, Duck Butt."
Sasuke sighed, then started talking. "First, you have to actually focus on where you're actually gonna shoot." I gave him a confused look, and he continued. "I'm talking about whether you want to go for the front of the rim, the back of the rim, or right in the middle. I'd suggest you go right for the middle, since it looks better when you nail it and you get some leeway." We both got a ball, and we started shooting. Sasuke nailed damn near every one, while I was a little better, but still trash, focusing on the middle of the rim.
He continued to help me, and by the time practice was over, I felt like with some practice, I might be able to consistently hit shots, and I felt good. As the three of us got back on the train back home, I felt good, Sasuke kept his stoic expression, and Shikamaru was sleeping as usual. We eventually got home, and I went to bed and slept like a baby.
