The next day-in school

Karin's POV (ya ik another curveball)

I was in the bathroom, doing my business. Kakashi-sensei rolled his eyes when I asked to use the bathroom, since I have to use the bathroom almost every day. He thinks that I'm just wasting time, but I actually have a condition which forces me to relieve more often than a normal person. And yeah, sometimes I take longer than I need to, but ever since Naruto actually became my friend, he's been encouraging me to take school more seriously. But I really needed to use the bathroom right now, so here I am.

I finished doing my business, and I was about to get up when I heard footsteps into the bathroom. I decided to stay cuz you never know what could happen. Then I heard a voice. I instantly recognized it as a certain pink-haired girl. She seemed to be alone, judging by the way she was talking. I heard her laughing like a villain and saying, "With this plan, I shall make Naruto my boyfriend just so I can get my Sasuke-kun! And if that fails, I guess Naruto isn't a bad consolation."

I could not believe what I just heard. I couldn't believe that Sakura would do something like that. I mean, I knew she was head over heels for Sasuke. Every girl was. Even I had a crush on him. But I wouldn't think that she was so desperate that she would literally use Sasuke's best friend just to be with him.

I was determined not to let this happen cuz I knew about Naruto's feelings too. He told me how he acts weird around Hinata, and I instantly understood that he had feelings for her, but that dense idiot didn't even realize it. I told him to maybe ask Jiraya when he visits him, and he agreed. But I knew that he might still have feelings for Sakura, and his heart would be broken if everything went according to her plan.

I got my phone, did some stuff on it, then I waited until I was certain that she left, then got out of my stall, washed my hands, and went back to class.

During lunch

Naruto's POV

I was sitting in my chair, excited cuz today we were going to have ramen for lunch, y'know? If ya didn't know, ramen is my favorite food and if it wasn't so expensive, I'd be eating it for every meal of the day.

Our table consisted of Duck Butt, Shikamaru, Neji, Kiba, a creepy emotionless guy named Sai, and me. Duck Butt and I were arguing cuz this Teme thought that Andrew Wiggins won't be a star player in the NBA. Shikamaru was snoozing on the table, despite the commotion. Neji and Kiba were talking to each other, while Sai was drawing something in his notebook.

Then, all of a sudden, Karin decides comes in and taps my shoulder. "Yo Naruto, come outside. I need to tell you something important." I was kinda surprised by the seriousness in her tone, and I went outside with her.

Once we were outside, Karin was looking around like she was paranoid. "Why so serious, coz?," I asked her. After she finished looking around, she told me, "Look Naruto. What I'm about to tell you, I don't want anybody else to hear." I raised an eyebrow at that. Is she gonna confess her love to me or something? I mean, she doesn't look half-bad, but I'm not gonna date my cousin, y'know?

"Naruto, are you listening?," Karin said in a more serious tone. I realized that this was not what I thought it was. "I'm listening," I said, my expression changing. "Sakura is gonna 'confess' her love to you. But don't fall for it, cuz she's just trying to use you as a springboard to get to Sasuke. And she only views you as a consolation. Sorry if I ruined your love life, but that's all I wanted to tell you."

My eyes widened when I comprehended what she just said. I didn't fully trust Karin yet tho, so I wanted to make sure she wasn't lying to pit me against my friends and fuck my life up. "How do I know your not lying, coz?"

Then Karin took her phone out and played some audio. "She was dumb enough to say this shit out loud." It was a voice detailing her "master plan". That voice, to my shock and disappointment, was Sakura. The video verified what Karin said too.

"Thanks for showing me this, coz. Funny thing is, I've pretty much have gotten over her. I think I might just live the single life for a little while." I grinned at that.

"Whatever, let's go back before all the ramen is gone." As soon as she said that, I immediately ran back to the lunchroom. And just in time too, since they were about to serve my table some of that delicious ramen, y'know?

After they served us the ramen, I quickly said, "Itadakimasu!" Then I dug in. After about 10 minutes, I finished. That ramen was some of the best I've had in a long time. It had the right balance of richness and lightness, and it left me craving for more, y'know? Unfortunately, everyone was allowed to only have one, so I finished up my lunch and got ready for class.

2 hours later

The bell rang, signaling the end of the school. As I got out of class, I headed towards my locker. As I started getting my stuff from my locker, which was next to Kiba and Lee's lockers. Then, out of the corner of my eye I see Sakura coming up towards me, and I anticipated what was gonna happen. "Hey Naruto, I need to tell you something," she said. "Yea, Sakura-chan?" I pretended to be a little surprised that she was here.

"I ... I love you, Naruto."

Kiba and Lee, who were both at their lockers and managed to hear everything, just gawked in surprise. I acted surprised too, because I didn't want her to know that I knew cuz I still wanted to be her friend. "W-what did you s-say, S-sakura-chan?" Damn, sometimes it's kinda hard to act, y'know?

"I said ... I said that I love you, Naruto."

I continued acting. "B-but, w-what about S-sasuke? A-and why n-now?"

She looked like she didn't expect that. "Oh well, you see, I decided that I would think about who I really loved, and I realized that it was you, Naruto, and not Sasuke-kun." I picked up that she still uses that suffix for Sasuke, but not for me. It seems pretty clear to me who she loves. And it angered me so much, I nearly blew my act, just seeing her lying to herself and to me. Besides, she's a rather terrible actor, y'know? Now, I gotta say no without getting her angry or sad.

"W-well Sakura," I started, making sure to omit the "chan". "The thing is, I also thought about my life in general, and a lot of stuff has happened over the past couple of months, so I don't know if I can be in a relationship right now. It's not you, it's me, Sakura."

Sakura looked genuinely surprised this time, and Kiba and Lee were still shell-shocked at what was happening. Then Sakura just left. She's probably gonna be sad and not talk to me for a couple of days, but it'll be alright.

And with that, I got the rest of my stuff, packed my bag, and left to go home.
