"(Y/n)," Jotaro drawled out as he poked his head up over the edge of the pool. I glanced up from my papers on the new tank. I hummed in response, waiting for what he wanted. "I'm shiny... will you do it now?"

I turned bright red, nearly crumpling the papers in my hand. "J- Jotaro! I-" I cut off noticing the odd stares from the rest of the team. "I told you, one, I'd have absolutely no idea what I'm doing, and two, that's borderline illegal here!" I whisper-shouted at him, slowly turning even more red if that's possible. I could tell he spent a lot of time cleaning his tail, noting how the scales looked like a bunch of black opals reflecting in the water.

He began sulking, sad I had to turn him down again. He's been doing this over the last few days and I could tell it was wearing on him. Then, seemingly out of nowhere, he perked up and grabbed my free hand. "Can you call the guy that sent me here? His name was Kakyoin. He might know someone that could help." I heard him mutter something under his breath but I couldn't tell what.

"Okay, was he a 'science person' or a 'boat person'." Jotaro refused to give up those terms, saying 'marine biologist' and 'sailor' were too hard.

"He was a tiny boat person, but the boat didn't have sides. It was like a board." My eyes widened. This was gonna be harder than I thought.

I looked around Japan's wildlife donation and surfing licencing records, because I have friends in the marine field over there. Finally, after a 34 hour search, we found him. I dialed his number, noting it was around noon there.

"Mo- oh wait, Hello," he stopped himself, realizing this was an American number.

"Hi, um, would you happen to be Kakyoin?" I asked, tiredness evident in my voice.

"Yes, may I ask who you are? And why you're so tired?"

"Sorry, I'm Dr. (L/n) at the Whitney Laboratory for Marine Bioscience, and I was calling about the merman that you had found? And I just pulled an all-nighter trying to find your number, so my apologies if I sound irritated."

"Oh, no worries, but the merman... Oh! Jotaro! Yeah I sent him in when he said he needed to 'go find a science human' or something. Why?" I blushed, realizing I would really have to explain this.

"Well, um, actually, let me get him to talk to you," I said, scrambling to not have to explain the pains of my sex life to a strange surfer.

"Oh boy, I don't know if I'll really be able to understand him."

"His English is way better than it was when I met him. He talks like a well educated teen, but likes his silly terminologies like 'science person'," I explain as I walk out to the pool. I move the phone to my hip as I call out, "Jotaro, I found Kakyoin!"

He popped up excitedly, practically vibrating with a small smile. "And?"

I jut out the phone to him, "I'll hold it since your hands are wet, but you get to explain this."

"Um, everything good?" Kakyoin asks, now on speakerphone.

"This is a weird device, but it lets me talk to Kakyoin?" I nod, urging him to get this over with.
