He overpowered me. That damn Joestar boy got me. I stare up at the rapidly lightening sky. Was the morning sky always so colorful? So beautiful? The asphalt dug into my back, jabbing my skin in intricate patterns. The noise of that infuriating boy's footsteps slowly blurred into a staticky, dull hum, leaving me to my thoughts. (Y/n), she was going to come by with Haruno next week.

My eyes began to unfocus as the sky turned a neon pink and an orange that reminds you of a tulip. Ah, she loves tulips. Or was it (f/flower)? Shit. No. I need to remember. My eyes began to blur as light started to stream in patches around me. Her shining (h/c) hair flashed in my vision and I began to tear up thinking of how she'll hurt at the news of me being slain. How she'll have to only tell our boy stories of his father rather than having me there to teach him about life.

I love you, (Y/n), Haruno. I'll watch over you.

And the sky opened up with the light of the sun, reducing him to ash.

I walk up to the castle that Dio insisted on buying in Cairo, Haruno sitting on my hip and marveling at his new ladybug toy. I kiss him on the head and walk in, slightly unsettled by the lack of Pet Shop's greeting, or Enya wandering in the gardens, or even N'Doul's strange habit of smoking in the middle of the path. I knock on the door to be greeted by one of the maids.

"Oh, Lady (Y/n)! Come in, I'll get you some tea." She ushered me in and scampered along to the kitchens. I spot Hol Horse walking down the hall, an almost solemn look on his usually cheerful face.

"Hol Horse! It's been so long. Where is everyone? It's kind of unnerving." I look into his eyes, waiting for a response. He knows I never felt at ease here because of the strange appearances and habits, but it's even worse without them here.

"M'lady, it really has been a while." He quickly avoids my eyes, knowing my stand, though physically weak, is perfect for lie detecting and espionage.

"Hol, where is Dio?"

"Lady (Y/n), I-"

"Where is he?"

"Well..." he trails off, trying to hide something.

"Answer. Me. Hol," I demand, my eyes darkening with anger and dread.

"The Kujo kid and his friends got 'im. He's- he's passed on. I'm sorry." His eyes never meet mine but I know he means it. My breath hitches and I realize I'm tearing up. "He almost had 'em too. Everyone but the Kujo kid was down and out, dead or incapacitated, and he did the impossible. He beat Lord Dio at his own game." He took off his hat as he spoke, recounting the fight in remembrance of the man that saved each of us from a dark place.

"So he's gone? No hope for bringing him back?"

"I'm 'fraid not. I'm truly sorry m'lady. I wish there was something I could do-"

"Tell me the boy's name. And tell me, who is left?"

"The boy's name is Jotaro Kujo, and who you see here is all that's left, other than that wack-job Pucci or whatever his name was."

I had to take a physical step back. The audacity. The unmitigated gall! He will never get away with this! Dio didn't pick me to be his consort for no reason. I'll have his head on a God damned plate! Hol most certainly picked up on the amount of anger I was radiating, slowly inching away as I plotted this boy's demise. I took a deep breath, temporarily calming myself.

"Thank you Hol. Take what you want and go, I won't make you stay." I look behind me to the doorway and continue, "You too miss, there seems to be no reason for you to continue the upkeep here." I turn back to Hol and smile. "Thank you for being there, but do take care."

"But M'lady, I can-"

"No Hol, you've been put through enough. It wouldn't set well with me to put you through more pain." I look down to Haruno, still fascinated by the opaque pattern on the red plastic that covered the back of his toy. "I'm already hurting from the idea of leaving him with my sister while I make things, well, right. It would put me in an early grave to worry about both of you." I look back up to see his head bowed.

"M'Lady-"

"No more of that. I'm no higher than you, not anymore."

"(Y/n)," he looked up with tears in his eyes. "I can't thank either of you enough. To- to just leave- I couldn't. Please, let me help."

"I won't put you in danger. If you must continue to have ties to me, write letters. Just let me protect you in the way that I can."

He visibly sighed, swiping at a stray tear. "Fine, just promise to stay safe. If not for me and Lord Dio's memory, then for that little tyke."

"Alright, I will. Now go. I have a Kujo to take care of."

I visited my sister and her new husband in Italy, and had her take Haruno, hoping he would be happier with her. I had known my sister to be a little bit wild, but caring none the less. I thanked her for watching him while I was going to be gone, but I had to leave him so I could keep him safe.

I kissed his forehead as I spoke, "I love you, Haruno. Mommy has to go and fix some stuff for Papa, ok?" He nodded placing his tiny hands on my cheeks.

"I love you, Mama." He kissed my nose and smiled, letting my face go slowly. I turned and bid my goodbyes to my sister, thanking her again.

Little did I know, I would't be able to come home to him.
