It was just before the royal dinner party when one of the servants came in and handed a letter to Maven. He had expected to be a letter about someone's taxes. After all, what else could it be?
Maven checked the time and figured. What's one more letter before going to the dinner party going to do. He opened the letter and was surprised, to say the least.
He had read the letter over and over again. What's this? He asked himself. This letter was unlike anything he had ever received. Was this what they called... a love letter?
Maven had never gotten one before. Everyone was all over Cal, his older half brother these days. After all, he's the heir. He was going to become king, not him. He would merely stay a prince.
"Mavey, are you ready?"
Maven quickly stuffed the letter inside his pocket before rushing to the door, only to open to fund his brother there.
He was wearing a dark suit with the house colours of Calore and Jacos. Their father and his mother's house.
Maven was wearing a dark suit too, but instead with colours from house Calore and Merandus.
His brother smiled at him and ruffled his hair. Maven didn't appreciate it, but didn't say anything either.
Cal walked in without asking and looked around. Unlike Cal's room.
Maven's room was neat. Everything had its place and not a single thing would ever go missing. After seeing what Cal's room looked like. Maven vowed to himself to never reach the state that Cal's room was in and since then he had stayed true to his vows. Thankfully."Well, I suppose it doesn't matter whether I am ready or not. I wouldn't be allowed to stay here either way."
Cal laughed and wrapped an arm around his younger brother. Together, they walked out of his room and towards the ballroom, where everyone was waiting for them. Correction, was waiting for Cal. The heir to the throne. Tiberias the Seventh. All hail his majesty.
