Ever since Maven started to write back to Thomas. Life has become strangely a lot more entertaining. Some may say that his life as a royal must be the life, but if Maven was being honest. The life as a royal was nothing, but full of responsibilities. There was nothing remotely exciting, unless you consider doing taxes and talking about politics exciting. Which, Maven sometimes would find it so, but not all the time.

At the moment, Maven was supposedly training with his brother and the Samos siblings. That's clearly not happening, instead he opted to skip. He hated training. Was it necessary? Yes. Did he want to go? No. It was one thing to train with his brother and the Samos siblings. It was another to get lectures from not only the teacher, but his own brother every second that he was there. He knew Cal meant well, but sometimes the amount of lessons he gave while they were training drove him nuts. So, instead he decided to stay in his room and figure out what to write next. Cal might scold him once he's done with training, but other than that. Nobody else would know. They were too busy to care about some measly training session that Maven was supposed to attend, but didn't. Nobody's life revolved around his. Only Cal's.

"Maven, dear. What are you doing here? I thought you were suppose to be training."

Maven quickly shoved everything into a drawer and turned around to see his mother. Elara Merandus. People say that she's a surgeon with the mind. Though Maven has heard the rumours about his mother. He's never been able to prove that they were right. He's never had his mother going through his head. Thank God for that.

"Mother! I mean, what are you doing here?"

"I could ask you the same thing. Why are you not out there training with the rest of them? Don't tell me you were planning on stopping your training." Elara looked down at her son disapprovingly.

"No! No, of course not! I just had some extra work to get done and decided to stay behind and finish it. That's not a problem, is it?" Maven gave his most sincere smile and prayed that his lie worked.

After a minute or two. His mother finally sighed and smiled at her son. She pushed her son's hair back before walking to the door. Maven's eyes followed and before his mother left. She took one last look at her son.

"I won't tell your father this time, but next time you better be training."

And with that, she shut the door behind, leaving Maven to sit there and listen as she walked away. I should've known I couldn't fool mother. He thought to himself.
