As Maven sliced the letter opened. He noticed it was a different kind of letter from the one that Thomas usually sends. Where Thomas' were white and had dirt on it. This one was in pristine conditions and was a more cream colour. It looked oddly familiar. When he took the letter out and read it. He couldn't help, but crumple it and throw it at the wall.

"DAMN IT CAL!" He shouted to himself, annoyed at his brother.

    Maven,

Trust me when I say, I did this for your own good. Don't worry, you will still get your letter, but I know you. If I had just willingly gave you the letter, you could easily get me in trouble or have some other tricks up your sleeves or even forget our deal once you've read the letter. That's why I specifically stayed with you until dinner was happening so you wouldn't have the time to read it and therefore you would be more focused on your part of the deal. It worked, didn't it? Anyways, don't worry. I promise I will give you the letter. Come to my room at midnight and the letter is yours. You have my words this time.

    Cal

P.s. don't even think about searching my room. The letter is with me.

He should've known Cal would also have tricks up his sleeves. He was a general after all. It didn't make Maven any less annoyed at his brother, but he supposed it was fair. He crumpled the fake letter and threw it away. He wasn't going to keep it. He walked to his desk and noticed a letter from a while back. With nothing to do, Maven decided to read it.
