And We Met

It's been a couple of days since Maven had first arrived. Since then, Sam was nowhere to be found. He figured that he didn't find anything and didn't want him to know. Which would make sense because Maven hasn't exactly been all cheery around him or anyone for that matter. In fact, he hasn't been around anyone willingly for that matter. He stayed inside his tent where he spent most of it reading or writing letters back to his mother, who had decided not to come and help out in the castle along with his cousin, Samson.

Little did Maven know, that he was about to get some news that was about to turn his world upside down.

"I found him!" Sam says, barging in.

Maven jumped back, startled by the sudden noise that came out of Sam. He had a pile of notes with him as he plopped them down on the nightstand where Maven took one. It was his profile. Thomas' profile. Except, there wasn't a photo.

"How do you know this is the right one?" Maven asked.

Sam smiled.

"Because I've been talking to him for the past few days."

That's why he was gone. Though the idea of finally meeting Thomas was appealing, he still found himself unsure. Maven couldn't help, but frown. He slowly put the profile back and sighed. The past couple of days of contemplating had him tired exhausted even.

"Is something wrong, your highness?" Sam asked.

"Nothing. Don't worry about it." Maven lied.

"Are you sure? Would you like to smile? I know a couple of funny jokes you might like." Sam offered.

Maven immediately looked up at Sam. Without thinking, he officially made up his mind.

"Where does he want to meet?" Maven asked.

"There's a mountain not far from one of the bases. He said he'd meet you when the sun starts to set. I have the directions written down here." Sam said, handing the dirty sheet of paper.

Maven took it and he could feel his heart beating faster.

"Alright, thank you."

"Of course, if you need anything else. Let me know. I have some work to get back to, but it's been a pleasure to meet you, your highness."

"Maven. Just Maven is fine."

"Alright, Maven." He smiled before leaving.

Sam knows who Thomas is.

As he followed the directions, the letters in one hand and the directions in the other. He contemplated if maybe this was a bad idea, but something about what Sam said made him think otherwise. When he finally reached the cliff that Sam had mentioned, he noticed that nobody was there. Maybe he was early, Maven figured. He sat down and watched the sun as it slowly set.

By the time the sun started to set. He could feel his disappointment sink in. Thomas wasn't coming. He wasn't coming at all, he realized. With one long sigh, Maven stuffed the directions in his pocket and walked back. Before he was able to make it anywhere, he noticed Sam up ahead. A small smile appeared on Maven's face as he looked at him.

"Hello, Thomas." Maven smiled.

"Hey." Thomas smiled back.

Author's Note: WHAAAAAAAAAT?! IT'S OVER?! Nope! Lucky for you, I'll be writing a small bonus scene because I really really really LOVE Thomaven and pretty sure if I was the reader, I would hate this ending haha. Or maybe not??? Anyway, I hope you liked it still! Did you figure it out before the story ended? Let me know! That being said, this is officially the last chapter! (Besides the bonus scene) I really enjoyed writing this. I still can't believe I've been writing this for over six months. Thomaven is one of those ships that I love and adore and honestly, I could write about these two every single day. I have so many stories with these two and who knows! Maybe I'll share them! That being said, I hope you liked it and let me know what other stories you want to hear from me! (I apologize for my lack of words and also my terrible grammar, but hopefully, that's okay! As long as you love writing, it doesn't matter if it's bad. It's a start and that's all it has to be!) Thank you so much for reading, I seriously appreciate it! I love reading y'all comments and it always brings a smile to my face. It means a lot that people would want to read and freak out about moments in this story. THANK YOU!!!!!!! That being said, everything but the story belongs to Victoria Aveyard and make sure to keep a lookout for her next book that comes out on May 4th, 2021, Realm Breaker!!!
