"How did you know it was me all along?" Thomas laughed softly.
"Why didn't you tell me?" Maven asked back.
Thomas shrugged, looking at the night sky. Unlike how he was when he was pretending to be Sam, Thomas looked so calm at that moment. Nothing like how he portrayed himself as Sam. Though he must admit, it was clever. Maven found himself annoyed at times with Sam in the little time that he spent with him.
"I wasn't sure if I wanted to meet you." He admitted.
"Why?" Maven asked, feeling his hands getting warmer.
"You know how people meet their idols only to be disappointed? I thought that maybe if we met, you would be disappointed."
"And you weren't disappointed by me?" Maven raised an eyebrow.
He shook his head.
"I don't know yet. You were extremely rude when we first met, which made me doubt wanting to meet you. Plus you didn't sound like you wanted to meet me either." Thomas said.
"I wanted to meet you more than anything." Maven admitted, letting his shoulder relax.
"You wouldn't believe how badly I wanted to meet you. Your letters were... Unbelievable. I wanted to know the person who wrote them. Whose words they were. I suppose like you, I feared that you might not like who I am once you have met me." Maven confessed.
"Well... As I said, you were pretty rude, but... Like I said in the letter, I like you, Maven. I don't know why I do, but I know that I like you enough to want to get to know you. And maybe help teach you a thing or two about manners. My poor alter ego has now been hurt by you." Thomas frowned.
"He's not your alter ego, he's just you, but with your name backwards." Maven said.
Thomas let out a shy laugh as he nodded, agreeing with what Maven said. Because it was, it was just his name backwards. Sam Oht. Thomas.
"That's how you found it?"
Maven denied it.
"It was definitely strange, but that wasn't how I found out. Actually, it was something that Sam said. He asked if I wanted to smile. In your letters, you asked the same thing the first time we started talking. I had my doubts, but while reading the letters on my way to the cliff. I noticed the handwriting was the same." Maven admitted.
"And that's when you knew." Thomas grinned.
"That's when I knew you were a liar." Maven teased.
Thomas laughed and laid on the grass.
"That's when I knew that I was talking to you all along." Maven said as he shifted himself to look straight down at Thomas who looked so pretty with the moonlight shining down on him.
"I'm sorry for saying I didn't want to talk to you anymore. I thought since we were from two completely different worlds. It would be better if—"
And then it happened.
Without thinking, Maven leaned in and he was only inches apart from Thomas's own face. He could hear his heart beating out of his chest as Thomas swept a strand of his hair away from his face.
"Is this where we kiss?" He asked nervously.
"Only if you want." Thomas smiled.
And he leaned in and they kissed.
"I really like you, Thomas." Maven said after the short kiss.
"I really like you too, Maven."
The two smiled once more before Thomas propped himself up and kissed Maven again. This time, it wasn't going to be a short kiss.
