On our way to the military bases, Maven couldn't help but look out the window. In a couple of hours, he was going to meet Thomas or find out that whatever it was they had wasn't real. It was all just a hopeless dream. Whichever it was, he was thankful for it to be finally over. After spending all day trying to process everything going on, he couldn't believe what just happened. From finally getting his letter back to discovering his crush no longer wanted to talk to him to flying out, hoping he could maybe get an explanation. Which he might not even receive.

"Hey," Cal nudged.

"What are you thinking about?"

Mavens shrugged.

"I was thinking about if I should even be going. I've never enjoyed coming in the first place and I don't see why I should come, especially since finding him isn't to my advantage."

"Or maybe it is," Cal said.

Maven raised his brow, curious about the look on Cal's face. He had a forced smile and his eyes were looking everywhere but at him.

"What do you mean?"

"I may or may not have done some digging and found someone who may know your mystery person. They're also an apprentice here and I figured, perhaps they might be able to help." Cal lightly punched his arm, hoping it would cheer him up.

It didn't.

"I believe they said his name was Sam. He's actually meeting up with us." Cal added.

Maven shook his head, agreeing with it, but he wasn't even half-listening. It was going to be a long ride clearly.
