It's nights like these
You know the ones
With that summer scent
Cool yet comfortable weather
Just after the sunset
When porch lights are turned on
That remind me of how alone I am under the stars
No friends, no lover
Just my dog and a few blankets
Talking to the moon
It's a bittersweet feeling yknow
Because the moon has seen the whole world
And you'll probably only get to see a few cities
So when opportunities like these come up
I try to tell her things she might not know about yet
Like stories I've read, movies I've watched or songs I've listened to
Even what certain things mean to me
In hopes that one night
She'll shine my light on
The person who's been humming the same tune as I
All along
But until then
I'm talking to the moon
