"I set you up on a blind date."
My head whips around and I glare at Meg. "What?" It's been two weeks since Sean and Drew found out that they were fathers. I was hesitant to jump right into things, but having missed out on four years, they were eager to play daddy. I still shake my head at Sean's preposterous idea that the girls' and I move in with them. Play dates were as far as I was willing to push it. "I don't want to go on a blind date."
"Why? What else do you have going on?" Meg asked. "Unless there is something going on with you, Sean and Drew?"
Meg's eyes go wide and her brows arch. I shake my head and turn from her to watch the girls. We're at the park and they are running around on the slide set.
"There is nothing going on with me and my baby daddies and there never will be. It was one night."
"Okay, so maybe now it's time to get out there and meet someone else."
"I'm not ready to date."
"It's been four years since you've had sex and even longer than that since you've dated. You can't use the girls as an excuse forever. If you need a babysitter I'm here and their dads are more than willing to help out."
I watch as the girls' play and let out a sigh. Meg is right.
"I'm not saying you have to marry the guy. Just get out and meet some new people. Have a few drinks and if the urge arises, go back to his place."
"Okay."
"What?" Meg turns to me. "Seriously?"
"Yeah. I'll go on the date."
Meg squealed with joy and clapped her hands. Her excitement was contagious. I have to admit to myself that I've been a little gun shy when it comes to dating. I didn't know many guys who would want to take on a single mother. Not saying guys like that didn't exist, just saying I was worried about being let down, or hurting my girls, but Meg was right. I couldn't be single forever. I wouldn't want to pass that onto my daughters. I wanted to show them what a healthy relationship looked like for when they were old enough to date.

Sean
"What do you think she called us over here for?"
"She said she needed us to watch the girls," Drew said. He raised his hand and knocked on the door.
"But why?" We had been spending a lot of time with our daughters in the last two weeks. We weren't quite at the point where we were telling them that we were their fathers. We just wanted them to be comfortable with us. Jade's request seemed weird because our playdates happened during the day and Jade was always there. Now it was night, and we were going to be alone with them.
The door opened and I got my answer. Jade was dressed to go out. She was wearing a pink dress that fit her body like a glove. The straps were thin, and it fell into a deep V that put her cleavage on full display. The dress fell to her knees but it hugged her tightly and she looked amazing.
"Wow," Drew said.
"Thanks for coming." Jade walked away from the door and we stepped inside. I closed it behind me.
"You look amazing," I said. "Girl's night out with Meg?"
"Thank you, and no. Meg set me up on a date."
"A date?"
"Yeah." Jade grabbed her small clutch bag and looked around the apartment. "So, the girls are already down for the night. We played all day so they were tired, but if Joanna wakes up, just put her in bed with Julianna. I'm trying to get them used to sleeping apart, but she's more comfortable if they're together. You have my number so call if anything happens."
She didn't spare us another glance as she walked past us and out of the condo. Drew and I both watched as the door closed with a click.
"I'm going to kill Meg," Drew said.
I seconded that.

I will give Meg an A for effort for the date. The guy was nice enough. He was attractive. Successful, but he was boring. I sat in the restaurant praying for the date to end at some point. The date taught me one thing. I could date. I wanted to date. So, although I didn't see anything going anywhere, with the guy Meg set me up with, I was going to tell her she could do it again.
There had to be someone out there for me.
I stepped into the dark condo and looked around. Drew was sleeping on the couch. I should have told him there was a guest room before I left. I peeled off my strappy heels so that I could move through the condo without clicking across the floor.
My mind suddenly registered that Drew was sleeping on the couch but Sean was nowhere to be found. Maybe he had found the guest room. I walked over to the girls' room and looked inside. Julianna slept peacefully in her bed and Joanna slept with her arms wrapped around Sean's torso. His large frame took up the space on her bed, but they slept in each other's arms.
I took my phone out and snapped a quick picture. It was one to add to their photo album and I was sure Sean would want a copy.
I closed the door and made my way to my room. I stripped out of the tight dress and pulled on a large shirt and crashed.~~~~~
