Surely, Saturday night was upon us. I had spent most of the morning just finishing assignments that I had either left unfinished or didn't even begin, just so I could sleep in on Sunday. And as the clock approached the time of the show, my anxiety began to rise. Suddenly, a knock on my door snapped me out of my turmoil of anxiety, making me jump, and run downstairs. There, Josh and Sam were standing, all couple-y. I invited them in, and we walked to my bedroom without a doubt.
"Uh, dear, why aren't you dressed?" Sam asked as they sat on my bed, with Josh closely following them. I opened up my closet and pointed at it, like a small child telling on a bully. Sam sighed and stood up. "Okay, we can do this." They looked around and threw out some jeans, an old shirt with the words "not cool" on it, and a black jean jacket. I looked at it and scrunched up my face. Sam rolled their eyes and looked again. They took out a small top, with a little bee embroidered on it, and switched it with the "not cool" shirt, and looked again at me. I looked at it and decided to go for it. After quickly changing in my bathroom, and walking in on my friends making out in my bed, we made our way downtown.
As we walked it, we noticed the pub was pretty crowded. Some people were already near the stage, however Josh and Sam made their way to the bar, after all, they were 18 already. I walked through the crowd until I reached the side of the stage, there, I saw Matty.
"You're here!" He said with a big smile as he hugged me, excitedly, I smiled at him, and waved at the rest of the band. "What are you guys playing?" I asked, as last night, by the time I left they were still debating about it. "You'll find out." Matty smiled and then winked at me, making my heart do a double backflip. I saw them get a cue that the show was about to begin, so I joined the rest of the crowd, Josh and Sam. Josh shot a look at Sam, who shrugged as he knew his boyfriend was being ridiculous by believing just any rumor. And we took our attention to the band. They began with their song Chocolate, and then played a couple of other songs I couldn't recognize by name. They closed with Sex, as the crowd cheered for them. I quickly walked in their direction, still feeling the vibrations of the loud music in my system, and I instantly hugged Matty."You were unbelievable!" I yelled, with my arms still around him. He smiled at me, and then I went on to hug the rest of the guys. This must've been a huge accomplishment for them. We were suddenly joined by Josh and Sam, one clearly more excited than the other. Josh finally smiled at them and introduced himself to the rest as Sam's boyfriend, and Sam wouldn't shut up about how much they loved the track list and how they should hurry up and make an album so they could hear it all the time. I smiled at the sight of my friends chatting with the band, and I took a step back.
Matty joined me shortly, and he was all smiles. "So, how'd you like the set?" He said, as he placed his hands on my shoulders, I quickly turned that into a hug, and I couldn't hide my smile. "It was awesome, I loved every second of it." We just stood there for a minute. And after we broke the hug he cupped my face with his hands. I could feel my soul leaving my body, as I made eye contact with Josh, who just lifted an eyebrow at me. "We should celebrate!" I yelled to the rest of the members, as I walked away from Matty's hands, leaving him just standing there. We all walked out of the pub after the guys received their money, and we headed to a small shop outside a petrol station. The guys picked up some wine and beer, and Matty bought himself a pack of cigarettes, earning a disapproving look from Josh. We made our way to a park and we sat in the playground for a while, until some guard told us to go home. "My home's alone." I said, and they all yelled with tipsy excitement as we made way to my house. We walked inside and I just asked them to be careful with things, they made their way to the living room and threw themselves in the couch, drinking straight from the wine bottle. Sam and Josh looked happy too, as they had also been drinking, and Matty stepped outside for what I imagined was a cigarette.
I looked behind me, just to see Josh and Sam busy listening to some of George's drunken story, and I stepped outside. A small organ he light indicated that my hypothesis was in fact correct, and I approached Matty, feeling a bit nervous. He smiled when he noticed me walking his way, and I stood next to him. I could feel small butterflies fly though my tummy, though maybe it was the cigarette smell that made me anxious. "I'm glad you enjoyed the concert", Matty blurted out and I sighed out with a smile. "It was great, I know you guys are gonna be big." He extended his hand to me, offering a drag of his cigarette, but I quickly denied it, as I knew that if Josh or Sam saw me smoking they would lose their shit. A comfortable silence surrounded us, as there was a small echo of the laughter inside the house. "You know, I really like your hair." I said, suddenly feeling brave. My hand travelled to his hair, and I played around with the curls for a moment. He dropped the butt of his cigarette and stepped on it, only to face me. Our faces were suddenly closer than expected. I could feel my heart beating fast, when all of a sudden I heard the door open and I jumped back, Matty letting out a sigh.
