The morning sun filtered through the thin curtains and I realized the figure that laid next to me. I don't know when we put the bedsheets over us, yet that happened. He held me closely, my hand resting on his chest, I reached out to touch his hair and I saw his eye lashes flutter as he got used to the light. When he saw me, a smile showed up on his face. We were both just quietly sitting there when all of a sudden the door flew open. "Honey, I'm—" My mum stood in the door frame in shock for a second, only to let out a little giggle, and close the door back up. I was mortified, my hand still on Matty's hair and him still turning in the door's direction. "I think your mum's home." He blurted out, making me laugh and hit his chest, only to find my hiding spot thereafter. "Maybe I should go," he said, this time more serious. Despite me not wanting him to leave, I knew he had to go back home and I knew I had to face my mom's questions as to why there was a boy in my bedroom while she was away.

We slowly walked downstairs, where my mum was already making breakfast and there were three plates on the table. Matty turned to me and I shrugged. "Hey mum, uh, Matty's leaving now." I said quickly as we walked across the living room and towards the door. "Oh doesn't he want to stay for breakfast?" She asked, but I had already pushed half of Matty's body outside. I closed the door behind me, and he turned to me with a smile. "That smelled very nice." He said taking a step back, still facing me. I stood in front of him, and smiled. "It would be weird. But maybe next time." He put a heart to his chest, pretending to be offended, only to replace his hurting face with a smile only a couple of seconds after. "See you tomorrow then." He said, pecking my lips before leaving. I could feel the butterflies take over my tummy as he walked away, and I sighed, while walking back inside.

"So, Matty seems pretty nice." My mom said as soon as I stepped inside. I could feel the butterflies that were in my tummy be replaced with overwhelming fear of what my mom would say next. "Darling, I'm glad you've got yourself a little boyfriend, but please don't invite him over when I'm not here. You could be doing dirty stuff and—." I interrupted my mom before she could finish her sentence with an embarrassed squeal, and I sat defeated in my chair. "He's not my boyfriend. And anyways, we didn't even do anything we just talked." I replied to her witty comment with the facts, to which she only raised her eyebrows and laughed as response, after setting both of our breakfasts on the table.

"How's dad?" I asked, taking a bite out of my scrambled eggs. She suddenly looked up, the light that had shone on her face moments before disappearing suddenly. "He's same as always. In a coma." She laughed, with a hint of sadness in her tone. She looked at her food for a moment. "I've been thinking, and I've been talking to the doctors and..." She took a deep breath, and I saw her clench her fists. "They said we should... let him go." There it was. My tummy fell to the bottom of body, and I could feel the tears welling up in my eyes. Despite it not making a lot of difference, the idea of losing my dad forever was extremely difficult to process. "It's taking a toll on us, both financially and economically, and the doctors said that there are very small probabilities of him waking up." My mum explained. Although I knew that what she said was true, it still made me feel like shit to think that I would give up my dad's life over my own sake.
"He should have a chance. Just in case he wakes up." I said, in a quiet voice, just trying to hold back the tears threatening to show up. "I know honey... We have to think this through, with him." I looked up at her. She knew how much of a toll it took on me to go see him at the hospital, however she was right. I needed to talk this through with my dad and my mom, together. Even though one wasn't quite there.
I nodded and finished eating my breakfast. I decided I needed some air, and since I had already finished all my assignments beforehand, I went for a walk, with my headphones plugged in. I ended up walking around the neighborhood. The calm acoustic music eventually lead me to the front of Matty's house. Despite only seeing him a couple of hours before, a part of me already wanted to see him again. However I decided to not knock, in order to avoid seeming pushy and kept walking. I looked at the floor as I walked, kicking a small rock, when I suddenly crashed against someone.

As if the gods had heard my hidden wishes, in front of me stood a smiley Matty. I instantly smiled back, yet I didn't know what to do next. "Hi." I blurted out, feeling the heat rise to my cheeks, as I remembered what had happened the previous night. "Going anywhere?" He asked as he put the cigarette between his lips and turned his body the way I was walking towards.

We began to walk. "Not really, just needed to clear my head." He looked at me with a worried look. "Is everything okay?" He stopped in his tracks suddenly, I looked at him and grabbed his hand with a small smile. "Yeah, it's a long story." I answered, as we kept walking. He intertwined our fingers and eventually dropped the cigarette but on the floor, which made me stop this time. "Don't be gross, pick that up and put it in its place." He let out a laugh over my sudden demanding tone and went back to pick it up.
