"I'm staying home for the day," I finished as I talked into the phone pressed up against my ear. I was currently dealing with a very angry Sarah, "I'm spending the day with my mum."

"Are you serious? I thought you never got along with your mum?" she asked. I rolled my eyes and sighed into the phone. Yes, me and my mum never saw eye to eye, but I never was close with either of my parents. My dad is over protective, and my mum seems like her life is the most important thing in life- but right now, it was.

"She's going through a rough time. I will text you throughout the day, okay?"

"I hate you sometimes," she groaned, "What about Mr. Irwin? He hates me when you're not there! And did you tell me you had a date with him tonight, which you're canceling? He's going to be a grumpy bastard," she finished.

I laughed, "About that- I haven't canceled yet. I will later on in the day, but not now."

"Em! He's going to be so happy and then be all sad! Sooner is better than later!"

"I know, I know. I got to go, I'll text you!" I said hanging up the phone and getting dressed. Today, me and my mother were planning on going shopping at the mall, and possibly get our nails done. Today was going to be an all girls day, doing all girly things.

I slipped on some jeans and a tank top. I raced around grabbing my shoes and threw my hair up in a pony tail. Eh, who's going to see me anyway? I finally found the missing shoe and headed downstairs and saw my mum in the kitchen drinking tea. I went over to her, "G'Morning mum."

She smiled, "Good morning sweetheart. Are you ready?" she asked grabbing her car keys after she dumped her tea in the sink. I nodded my head and grabbed my wallet from my school bag. I didn't really own a purse, so I carried everything in my school bag. "Thank you for spending the day with me. We never do this anymore."

I smiled as we headed to her car, "I know, I've missed it!"

She smiled and pulled out of the driveway. "I'm sorry I don't talk to you much anymore, Alex. You know I love you to pieces right? You're always going to be my little girl."

I smiled, "I love you mum."

_________

"Oh, that is so cute! You should buy it!" she said as I stepped out of the dressing room. I was in a short dress that framed my waist perfectly. It flared out just above my hips, giving it a cute look. It wasn't too slutty, and it wasn't too old-ladyish. It was my style. "Wait, I'll buy it for you."

"Ma-"

"No! No arguing with me. I'm buying this and you're going to love it. Maybe you can invite your man to a date. This will be the perfect dress."

"But, this isn't really fancy..." I trailed off looking in the mirror, "And he wants to take me somewhere fancy. He said he was going to wear a suit."

My mom smiled, "Okay, so you can buy this dress, and I will buy another dress that's fancy." she stated getting up out of her chair and pushing me into the room, "Change, and then we'll go dress shopping!"

She was clearly more excited than I was. I laughed and went to change. This was actually fun hanging out with my mom. I never really wanted to give her a chance with girly stuff, but she was great.

I really did miss this.

______

"That's the one!" she said loudly as I turned around looking at the short dress that had diamonds on the bust. It was a teal color, and it looked gorgeous. "Let's get it! And then this boy won't be able to take his eyes off of you. You look beautiful, Alexandria."

I smiled, "Thank you mum," I said as I headed back into the big dressing room to get out of this fancy dress. It was beautiful, but it was kind of itchy. Oh well, it was worth it.

But I wasn't sure about this date. I wanted to spend the day with my mom, but she seemed to want me to go on a date. But then again, she doesn't know it was scheduled for today.

_______

We continued to walked around the mall, just window shopping. I was content on getting two dresses, but my mom wouldn't let me buy my fancy one. She is the most stubborn person there is. As we walked around, I noticed a few familiar faces. They were from my school, in my classes. I checked my phone and noticed it was pretty late. Also, I noticed a message on my screen from Ashton.

I miss you ): I was looking forward to seeing you- and kissing you. Are you feeling okay? Text me back when you can. -Ash xx.

I sighed and close my messages. "What's wrong?" my mom asked me as we walked around aimlessly. "Was it your hot guy you were talking about?"

I rolled my eyes, "Yes. But it's nothing."

"Nothing? You sighed all sad like. What did he say?"

"He just said he missed me today at school. We were planning on having that fancy date today, but I don't know how to tell him I'm canceling?" I said shrugging my shoulders.

"Why are you canceling?" she asked making us stop in the middle of the walkway.

I laughed, "'cause I promised I would spend the day with you!"

She rolled her eyes, "Oh come on, let's get our nails done and then you're going home and getting ready for that date." she said dragging me over to the nail salon.

Well, now I don't have to cancel. I whipped out my phone and decided to text him back.

Alex: Sorry! Hanging out with the mum today. I'm doing okay (: is our date still on? -Lex

Ash: Wouldn't want to miss it for anything (; I have to buy a suit... I don't own one. I'll pick you up at your house. Is 8 okay? xx.

Alex: Sounds good. See ya soon x (;

I stuffed my phone in my back pocket and sat down in one of those big black chairs they have set up in the room. I saw my mom picking out a pretty peach color, and i decided on the same color teal my dress was. It matched perfectly.

_______

When we finished, we started to walk around again, making sure we have everything done. I got a nice pair of black heels, and I even got a nice wallet. I was actually pretty excited; That was until I ran into someone I wasn't expecting.

"Alex?"
