Ashton
I drove by all the places we used to hang out getting wasted
"Come on, Alex. I know you'll love it!" I pleaded with her as we stood at the bar. She didn't want to dance with me, but I could see it in her eyes. I leaned in close to her body so my lips were pressed against the skin under her ear, "You won't regret it." I pulled back and saw her eyes darken, an her hands grabbed mine and pulled me to the dance floor.
I thought about our last kiss, how it felt the way you tasted
"I'm leaving to London," her voice was barely above a whisper as she told me she was leaving. Everything we went through, she's leaving me behind. I pleaded and pleaded with her to stay or that we could work with distance, but she shook her head and stood on her toes and pressed her lips softly against mine. I took notice at the way her lips tasted like strawberries from her chapstick, and the way her tears were soaked into it also.
And even though your friends tell me you're doing fine
"She's fine, Ash, I just finished talking to her!" Sarah exclaimed as we walked back to the bus. Everything about her was bugging me. She didn't call Sarah for weeks, and then when she did, everything was just fine? Something wasn't right.
Are you somewhere feeling lonely even though he's right beside you?
"She's by herself," Sarah whispered with a sad tone. "What do you mean by herself?" I asked sitting down beside her. "Her boyfriend is always with her, but she feels so alone. She says she misses Australia, and she hasn't been the same Alexandria since she got to London."
When he says those words that hurt you, do you read the ones I wrote you?
"I'm sorry you weren't happy with me, Alex. I'm sorry I might be the reason you left your friends behind, and if I was, I would take it back in a heartbeat. I love you. Even after these dreadful months, I still love you. Crazy, right? We only dated for three or four months, but I just can't get you out of my head. The way you used to crinkle your nose when you laughed and the way you covered your mouth when you laughed too hard keeps replaying in the back of my mind. I will end this text here, so goodbye. I wish you were here. Love, Ash xx."
Sometimes I start to wonder, was it just a lie? If what we had was real, how could you be fine?
"Is that her new boyfriend?" I asked Luke who was scrolling through his Twitter with me. He glanced over my shoulder, "Seems like it. I wouldn't kiss my friends, maybe Michael, but that's beside the point," he said shrugging his shoulder as if it was no big deal. She moved on in three months? It's only been three months, and she's moved on? Everything she said must've been a lie.
'Cause I'm not fine at all
"Ashton, get out of bed and go eat something. You look unhealthy mate," Luke said as I covered my body with the blanket. "Just get out."
I remember the day you told me you were leaving
I remember the make-up running down your face
I came downstairs hearing sobs from the front door. "Alexandria?" When she looked at me, I noticed the tears on her cheeks and the way she was avoiding my eyes. Something was terribly wrong, but I never expected what was coming.
And the dreams you left behind you didn't need them
"One day, I'm going to be the biggest scientist known! It's been my dream forever. I want to discover knew things people are too scared to uncover." She smiled over at me as we looked up at the stars. "My only dream is being with you." She blushed at my comment and gently kissed my lips. "That's not a dream, that's simply reality."
