(One day before Finals)

The month had gone by so fast, I didn't even realize tomorrow we have the final tests. All break, I would spend my time with Sarah and Ashton, studying or partying. I tried to keep my mind off the bad things, but it always seemed to come back at night. I thought about my mum leaving. I didn't understand why she couldn't leave me a single note, or even a text message.

All I had was the locket. I never was really close with my mum, but she was the only person who made me feel safe at home. She would be there when my dad wasn't, or she would be there when he would yell all night long. She was there. She isn't here now.

Since today was the last day I had to study, I wanted to call up Ashton and see if we could hang out. My dad was passed out on the couch, and would leave at night. He wouldn't even notice I was gone. I pulled out my phone and dialed Ashton's number and waited until he picked up. "hello?"

"Did I wake you?"

"No babe, is something wrong?"

"I just wanted to hang out today. This is my last chance at passing these courses," I started, "And I wanted to be with you. I miss you."

He chuckled lowly, "It's only been four days."

I sighed, "Yeah, I know, but four days is long for me."

"Do you want me to pick you up?" he asked.

"I can drive there. See ya soon," I said.

"Love you," he said before hanging up. I quickly rushed around grabbing some clothes that I could wear. I wanted to be comfortable, so I put on some sweatpants and a tank top.

I stuffed my phone into one of the pockets of my pants and headed downstairs. I didn't see my dad on the couch anymore, so I assumed he went into his own bedroom to sleep peacefully. I didn't bother to leave a note like I did with my mum because he wouldn't even take the time to read through it.

I went to grab the car keys but noticed they weren't hanging up. "What the-" I looked outside and noticed the car was gone. Great, just great. My dad took the car and left. I didn't know how long he would be gone, so I just decided to walk.

_____

Once I was halfway to Ashton's, it started pouring rain. I was soaked. As I continued to walk down the empty side walk, I jumped over puddles, trying to stay as dry as I could.

After about ten more minutes of walking, I saw Ashton's car parked outside his flat. I sighed in relief as I rushed under the porch, safe from the rain. I knocked on the door and waited a few seconds before being blinded with tons of lights and Luke standing there with no shirt on. "Alex? What are you doing here?"

"M-me and Ashton a-are g-g-going t-to-"

"Come in, it's freezing outside," he said opening the door and pulling me in. I should've just taken Ashton's offer from the beginning. "Why did you walk in the rain?"

"M-my dad had t-the c-car a-and I didn't w-want to bother anybody," I stuttered out, my teeth chattering from the cold wetness clinging to my body. "Where's Ash?"

"He's up in his room I think. Do you want a towel?"

"Alex! You walked here?" Ashton shouted as he saw me standing in front of the door. "Why didnt you call me?" he asked rushing over to me and placing his warm hands on my shoulders.

"I d-didn't want to b-bother you."

He smiled, "Babe, you never bother me. Let's get you some dry clothes," he grabbed my hand in his and lead me up to his room. He rummaged through his drawers and pulled out a big shirt and a pair of boxers. I remember last time I was soaking wet, he did the same thing. "Here, go get changed, while I throw your wet clothes in the dryer. And then, we can study all day if you want to."
