TWENTY THREE

I opened my eyes. The first thing that I saw is the white ceiling. Nasa hospital ba ako? But the smell of the room is a bit familiar. Napakunot yung noo ko. Kinapa ko yung sarili ko. Nakahiga ako sa kama at nababalot ako ng kumot. I think I'm still wearing the same clothes. Sinubukan kong bumangon.

"Don't move."

Natigilan ako. Para akong nabato sa kinahihigaan ko. My eyes widened.

I know that voice.

Parang mahihimatay ako ng makita ko siya sa harapan ko. He is sitting on a chair beside the bed. He is looking intently at me...

I swallow hard. I blink my eyes twice.

"Nagdedeliryo na ata ako," I muttered.

Pumikit ulit ako. Wait nananaginip ata ako.

"What are you doing?"

Gusto kong lumubog sa kinahihigaan ko nung marinig ko nanaman yung boses niya. Hindi ako nananaginip. Siya talaga yan. Hindi ko alam kung paano ko ulit bubuksan yung mga mata ko. Pero bigla akong kinabahan. Anong ginagawa ko dito? Nasa hospital ba ako? Bakit kami magkasama?

I opened my eyes. I look around. I'm not in a hospital. Nanlaki yung mga mata ko. Nasaan ako? Anong ginagawa ko dito kasama siya?!

Lumingon ako sa kanya. His brows are in a grim line. Napatingin ako sa tabi niya. There was a small table beside him. May tubig, gamot, at pagkaing nakapatong doon. Bakit siya nandito?

"A-Anong ginagawa mo dito? B-Ba..kit ikaw yung..."

Lapat na lapat yung labi niya. I can't read his face. His face is expressionless. Hindi ko mabasa kung anong iniisip niya. I don't know what he is thinking right now.

"The people who helped you earlier said you say my name before you fainted."

Napapikit ako. Tang-ina.

Napahilot ako sa ulo ko. My heart suddenly started beating so fast. Nakakahiya!

Pero paanong nangyari na kasama ko siya ngayon. Paano nila nalaman na si Simon Estrella yung tinutukoy ko?

My mouth parted. Bigla akong nakaramdam ng hiya. My heart is pounding so loud. I'm feeling mixed emotions. I don't know what to feel and to think. I look at myself then I realized...Hindi ako dapat nandito. Pero wala na akong magagawa. I sadly look at him. Baka naabala ko pa siya. I already have a hint that I'm in his condo. When I looked around, I saw the black curtains and I'm pretty sure I'm in his room. Kailangan ko ng umalis. Baka magalit nanaman siya sa akin. I want to hit myself! He doesn't want to see me. I know, I'm already pathetic to say his name earlier. I shook my head. I need to go...tama, dapat umalis na kaagad ako.
