Chapter One

A/n you're supposed to be confused, dw, it's all explained eventually<3 this book includes dark themes such as murder.

Levis pov

I gasp, trying to get oxygen to enter my body, yet panic still overwhelms me. My whole body freezes as I look over to the dark shadow like figure.

"Oh no, oh no oh no oh no this isn't real, no this is some stupid nightmare-"

"Um no, this is real."

I look up at the stranger and wince.

"What do we do now?"

"You go home, I'll leave. That's it." My eyes widen and I quickly shake my head before grabbing his arm.

"No, please you can't leave me with them, i'm im part of the west side gang and my brothers are the leaders! They hate me, they will kill me if they know I'm alive after this, really they will!" He quickly moves his arm away from me, as though my touch burnt his skin.

"Not my problem." I look around, searching for some form of answer. "Please! Just kill me then, I'd rather die than deal with them!"

The tall boy turns to me with a confused look. "Your own brothers won't kill you." I shake my head. "No, you don't understand. They hate me already. If they found out I was linked to this, I'm dead. There's no hope for me! I'm-"

Before I can finish I feel a hand cover my mouth and a knife appear right inbetween my eyes. "Shut the fuck up before I really do kill you." My eyes widen. He really is taking my request for him to kill me.

Ok Levi it's fine, quick and over with, just breathe.

He looks around for a moment before shoving me to the floor.

"please don't leave me with them, just leave me in the next state or something." He quietly groans before standing in front of me.

"Listen, i'll take you to Kansas but on the way you stay quiet, you follow my rules and you don't annoy me. I would kill you right now but its too easy." I feel my eyes almost drop out of my head as he begins to walk away.

"And everyone knows easy kills are no fun."

I stare at him before pushing myself back onto my legs. I glance around at my surroundings and feel my whole body tremble.

My life is living hell.

"Hurry up, if you break my rules or ignore me i'll abandon or kill you." I nod swiftly before jogging behind him. After a few moments of silent walking, he points to a car. "Get in." I nod and follow the mysterious boy and approach the car.

While waiting for him to unlock it, a bolt of panic shoots through my veins. I'm about to get into a car with a murderer. Maybe... maybe I run. Maybe I could survive on my own?

Who am I kidding?

He quickly unlocks it and we climb into the small, run down vehicle. "Are you sure this will get us far." He shrugs.

As soon as the car sets off I feel my chest get tight and my head begin to feel fuzzy. What the hell just happened? Why did I have to be there? Oh god they're really gonna find me and kill me.

They already wanted to kill me, but now they have a reason too.

Reese pov

I look over to the sleeping boy and shake his shoulder. "Wake up." I watch as he quickly jumps awake.

"IM SORRY." I raise an eyebrow and roll my eyes. For someone thats apparently in a gang he's really pathetic.

"Where are we?" I sigh and stare at the road ahead.

"Two towns over." He nods and moves around a bit. "Do you know how to get to Kansas?" I shake my head and smirk. "Nope, I haven't got a map, I just know I have to head east." he sighs softly and nods.

"What's your name?" He looks at me, as if he's trying to process what I asked.

"my names Levi... Levi Cat." I smirk. He's more of a kitten than a cat.

"what's your name?" I think for a moment, considering if I really want to tell him my real name, you can't trust anyone from around here.

I stare at the road for a short while longer before coming to terms with telling him. I might as well tell him, he would find out eventually plus I have doubts he's gonna survive long.

"Reese." He tilts his head for a moment. "Reese what?" I shrug. "Just Reese."

He nods softly before looking back out of the window. I honestly can't wait to be on the road on my own. Just me and my thoughts, my wonderfully fucked up thoughts.

I look at the sun that is beginning to rise ahead of me and sigh, the weight of the situation finally setting in.

This is insane.

I woke up this morning planning to leave that dump, alone.

Now I'm stuck with some random small boy who I'm guessing is completely useless.

I should have killed him, I should have just left him there. Why the fuck did I bring him.

That's not like me.

I don't give pity to anyone, especially not strangers.

And the incident... if anybody finds out especially from the boys gang or my gang I'm dead.

Where am I even going? Maybe I should go to Canada? Or California, or maybe New York. I heard they are all really nice places. Places better than Colorado.

But who knows, I guess I will just go wherever fate takes me.

Today is filled with all sorts of surprises.

Well! This is it! This is my new book! I hope you guys enjoyed the first chapter. It seems pretty confusing so far (probably because im a bad writer) however i hope it gets better. I have high hopes. Its also nice to write a character with no stutter for once. Oscars stutter was quite the challenge to write.
