Chapter Six

Levis pov

"If you knew you was going to be in this position, would you have lived this life?" I shake my head.

"Theres frankly no reason for me too. I'm pretty sure I've lived one of the most miserable lives there is." He hums. "I know a few people that can top you." I sigh.

"Why, would you?" He hums. "Maybe, i'm still curious on when this shit ends. I mean I know i'll get caught or killed some time soon but I'm curious on how and when." I stare at him.

"So, you're ok with being a murderer?" He shrugs.

"No but i guess i can justify why i am in my mind, kinda forced into this lifestyle. Kitten, i hope you know i dont just kill random people for fun. Sure i sometimes find it fun or in different ways, but i have my reasons. They may not be great reasons sure, but i have reasons. I wouldn't just go kill a random lady if she tripped me up or was annoying." I nod slowly.

"But you said you would kill me if i annoyed you too much." He nods. "Yeah but you aren't a random lady. Plus at the end of the day if would do us both a favour if i killed you. The random lady, she may have a life to go home to wheres you dont." I feel my body slouch.

Great.

So he would kill me for not having normal life and for being trapped in this hellish one.

"Sorry kitten, just the way it is. So you really haven't killed anyone?" I sigh.

"No Reese, i've never even punched anyone." He frowns. "Well do you still have that pocket knife I gave you? You might want to keep it close by." I nod slowly.

It's not like i'd actually use it.

"Is there anything you miss about your gang life?" I think for a moment. "They would have pizza every friday, good pizza." He smirks. "What about you?"

He continues to stare at the road. "I miss having money, being able to spend it on alcohol or cigarettes and shit i didnt need but could get." I pull a face, not very enticed by the thought of either of the two items.

"So have you told your aunty you will be staying with her? How do you think she will feel?" I shake my head. "She will most likely be fine with it, but i better call her if there is a phone booth or something at the store." He nods.

"What if she says no." I shrug. "Then im homeless in kansas." He smirks.

Im glad my bad lifestyle is amusing to him.

He drives for another five minutes before pulling up at a store. I grin as i see a phone booth and make my way over.

As i get there i reach into my pocket to find and enter the necessary coins. I think for a moment before dialling the number.

I look over to Reese who is just staring at me as he leans against the wall, like a bird of pray watching its dinner.

I smile awkwardly and turn back to the phone, listening to the long lasting rings.

"Hello?" I smile at the familiar friendly voice.

"Hi aunty samantha, its me, Levi. I was wondering if i could visit... for a while." There is a pause before a sigh.

"Oh Levi, you know i say come stay here whenever, but right now im on a cruise and travelling for a while. I'll be gone for over a year. If you're still up for staying after that then you're fully welcome, but im so sorry hunny." I feel my shoulders slouch.

"Its ok, I'll visit you when you get back, enjoy your trip... i love you."

I hear a laugh on the other side. "Ok sweetie, i love you too. Goodbye, take care." I place the phone back onto the stand and rest my head on it.

Oh god. What do i do now? I can't stay outside her house for the next year waiting for her... but that's probably my only choice.

I sigh and walk back over to Reese. "So how does she feel about you staying?" I sigh as we walk into the store.

"She's on a cruise, she will be gone for over a year." He turns to me. "So what are you going to do?" I shrug.

"What else can I do? My only option is to live outside her house until she returns." He nods and continues to pick out groceries.

"That sucks." I sigh. "Yeah, it does."

Lets hope I survive.

Reese pov

I look over to the sleeping boy in the car. I sigh, trying to figure out what to do with him. Maybe i should wait with him until his aunt arrives? Or drive a longer route? A year on his own... he won't survive.

I frown. When did i get so soft?

Any other person i'd happily watch them become homeless or struggle to survive... but with him it's different. Maybe its because i partly put him in this position and i feel guilty.

Wait when did i gain a guilty conscious? I groan, apparently too loud.

"Huh, whats wrong?" I look over at the half awake boy. "Nothing kitten go back to sleep." He opens his eyes slightly and frowns. "Are you ok?"

I grit my teeth. "Yes Levi now go back to sleep." He sighs before closing his eyes and falling back into what seems to be a deep sleep.

I squeeze my hand tightly into a fist. Don't become weak Reese. Just leave him to survive on his own.

I sigh and look over at the moon. I parked on a busy service car park, meaning my car blends in and keeps us hidden.

I hear a soft snore come from the small boy beside me. I look over and smile softly before moving the hair out of his face. A moment later i feel my body stiffen as i realise what i just did.

Oh my god he's is changing me... and i'm not sure if I hate it.
