Chapter Eight

Reeses pov

I slowly open my eyes and wince when the sun burns my eyes. "Ugh fuck." I sit up and rub my face trying to wake myself up.

I turn around and frown when i see Levi. "How long have you been awake?" He jumps slightly at my voice before turning to me. I feel my shoulders sink when i his eyes are red and puffy.

"All night." I sigh. "Levi, why didnt you sleep?" He shrugs. "You should have woke me." He shakes his head.

"Fine, but we're leaving." He looks up at me and sighs before standing up.

I raise an eye brow as i watch him struggle to pull himself up. Its like when hes tired he loses all energy possible.

"Come on." I begin walking towards the road which will lead us to a close by town, its probably only a twenty minute walk. I pull out the small amount of change from my pocket and begin to count it. £45, better than nothing.

"Kitten i still have-" i turn around and frown. Hes only just made it to the edge of the woods. I walk back over to him and crouch down.

"What?" I look up at him. "Jump on my back." He goes red and steps back.

"Why?" I groan.

"Kitten you're walking like you're a grandma, jump on my back." He sighs before climbing on my back.

"You're so light what the fuck, do you have any muscle at all?" He mumbles a small no.

Moments later i feel him rest his head against mine and small snores leave his body. I feel my muscles tense up and a warm feeling run through my blood. At least he's sleeping.

Levi pov

"Kitten wake up." I groan and rub my eyes.

I unwrap my legs from Reeses body as he places me down.

It then hits me. "Im so sorry you had to carry me and i fell asleep." He shrugs and walks into the store. I feel my whole face go bright red.

No way i just let a murderer carry me, and how did i fall asleep? He could have killed me.

I sigh as he begins to pick out groceries. "Im gonna stand outside and get some air." He nods and continues to go down the isles. As soon as i get outside i feel my anxiety from the night before return.

I couldn't sleep all night, the fear of Blake and his gang finding us was overwhelming.

I shake my head, not wanting to think about it any longer. I wonder how long it will be until we make it to kansas, i wonder what i will do for a year.

I wonder if i will survive.

"Come on, i got the stuff." I look up to him and follow him out of the store.

"So what are we going to do now?" He walks back over to the road. "There is a hiking trail down the road." I raise an eyebrow.

"Reese im too tired to hike." He smirks. "Kitten we're not going hiking." I frown. What are we doing?

I go to ask him more questions but realise it may not end well. As soon as we arrive Reese walks over to the car park and pulls out a key.

He then begins to search every license plate until he finds the right one. He clicks the button and smirks as the doors unlock.

"Get in."'i nod and climb into the small car.
"How?" He starts the car and begins to drive away. "A lady said she found some car keys on the floor, i claimed them and the owner had stupidly carved his licence plate onto the key. I knew it was non of the cars in the grocery parking lot because the only car there was the old ladies."

I raise my eyebrows. "Thats the luckiest thing to ever happen to me." He smirks.

"Well Levi Cat, perhaps our luck is turning around." I smile.

"Hey are your brothers last name Cat?" I shake my head. "They took our fathers last name of Michaels. I took my mothers name of Cat, it was my mothers choice." He shrugs.

"Well i like Levi Cat way better than Levi Michaels." I smile slightly at him before watching the road ahead.

Reeses pov

"And then, I completely covered the house in paint. Even though i was only 3 my mom was ready to kill me then and there." We both laugh at Levis story.

I look over to the small boy. God he had a beautiful smile. I stare at him for a few minutes before shaking my head.

Reese what are you doing. Dont do this. You're just confused, you dont care about him, you dont even like him. Dont become weak.

I squeeze the car wheel. "Are you ok?" I look over to the small boy before back to the road. "Im fine, im just ready to find a place to stop so we can sleep." He nods.

"Thankyou for not killing me." I look over at him, quite taken back by his words. I want to tell him I would never, to reassure him that I wouldn't let anyone, not even myself hurt him. But i dont.

"Well kitten you haven't given me a reason to hurt you. " his small smile fades and he nods before leaning against the window to try and sleep.

God i can't be falling for him. A guy like me and a boy like him? He deserves better. Wait what am i saying. I dont love anyone. I never have and never will,

and thats the way it will stay.
