Chapter Thirteen

Levi's pov

I wince at the light and rub my eyes before silently yawning. I look over to Reese to see him still driving. "Where are we?" I giggle under my breath as he jumps at me suddenly speaking. "Look out the window." I wipe away some of the condensation and feel my body sink into the chair slightly.

A huge 'welcome to kansas' sign glides past us. "Already? Oh, ok well my aunts house is an hour away, just follow this road and-" he shakes his head. "Levi you're not going to your aunts." I turn to him in confusion.

"You said you'd take me, or did you change your mind? I suppose i can walk from here." He rolls his eyes and shakes his head again.

"Levi i'm not leaving you, you're coming with me." I turn to him in confusion and frown.

"What? Why?" He shrugs. "Cos you'd die on your own. Plus I've gotten used to having you around. It would be easier to survive together than on our own for the next year, then when your aunt returns, i'll drive you here." I stare at him in confusion.

"You want me to stay with you?" He shrugs. "I mean uhh y-yeah?" He smiles softly while rubbing the back of his head. "Look, if you don't want to i understand, not like i care, i just thought-" i shake my head.

"No, id like to stay with you, i mean i'm only just getting the grasp on how to not make you want to kill me." He smirks.

"So, where are we going?" He shrugs. "I don't know. We don't have a map nor a phone so i guess we just drive from town to town for the next year." I smile and nod.

"Thats fine with me."

Reeses pov

I close the small motel door and follow behind the small boy. We're heading to the small store across the street to get some food for the night.

I stare at the back of Levis head and frown slightly. He's making me soft. Since when did i want someone else around? Since when did i become friends with people? Since when did i go around kissing people?

I freeze at my own thought.

Why did i kiss him? I've never kissed a guy before, and never felt shit when i kissed girls. I dont like him that way ... do i? I can't-

"Are you ok?" I snap out of thought and look at Levi. "Yeah why?" He shrugs. "Cos you've been stood still for a couple of minutes staring at me, or something behind me maybe." I shake my head and continue walking.

"I'm fine kitten i was just thinking about my... my..." he giggles. "Your what?" I turn to him as i walk beside him.

You can't tell him how you feel! Thats insane.

"My appetite, i think i want a different soup tonight, or maybe something else." He pulls a strange face but nods, he definitely doesn't believe me.

I hate how i've scared him to a point where he thinks i could snap and kill him. Id never kill him... right? I mean i don't like killing people, do i? God i'm so fucking confusing.

Fuck emotions.

Levis pov

I look over at Reese and frown slightly. "Are you sure you're ok?" He looks up slightly and then back to his soup. "I'm fine, why?" I shrug. "If you've changed your mind about me coming with you I understand." He smiles slightly.

"Kitten I haven't changed my mind. I'm just tired." I nod slowly. "So where are you going to go after you leave me with my aunt?" He shrugs. "Maybe i'll start a small farm in kansas or have a cabin in alaska or maybe head out west to roam free." I smile.

"So you don't want to go back to civilisation? To something similar to the life you once lived?" He pauses for a moment then continues to stir his soup around. "I didn't choose that life levi, that life chose me. I want to choose my future though." I smile softly.

I've never seen him show so much emotion. He's changed so much in the 6 months i've known him. I mean sure, he'd probably still kill me but i'm not as scared as i was before.

I sigh as i place my soup can on the side. I begin to lie down before he stops me. "What are you doing?" I look at him in confusion. "Getting ready to sleep?" He shakes hid head.

"Kitten, the bed is huge, just sleep here." I slowly stand up. "Where will you sleep?" He smirks. "On the other side. Kitten the bed is huge, we sleep closer when in the car. I'm not going to kill you in your sleep." I nod and climb into the bed.

I lie down and turn over and groan. "What?" I smile. "This is the comfiest place i've ever slept." He smirks.

"What have you slept on the floor your whole life?" I turn to him. "Yeah. My brothers would force me to sleep on the floor instead of my bed and for the past 6 months i've been either on the floor or curled up in the car." He laughs and turns out the light. "Well, enjoy your sleep, let hope you don't die of comfort." I giggle and turn back over.

I like this new Reese, i really do.

I've been super busy with school since this is my last year of high school and covid has us all behind so i'm putting all my time into either that or resting.
