Chapter Twenty Three

Levis pov

I stop and wipe the heavy rain out my face while looking left and right before sprinting left.

Please say i'm not too late.

I can't lose him... he's the only thing i have.

I wipe my face, trying to clear the tears and rain from blocking my vision.

I sigh once i see the small sign and the path of the trail before sprinting down it towards our small camp.

Once i arrive i look around frantically "Reese?" I feel my lip tremble as i get no response.

I continue to yell his name and the second i see him appear in the distance, i sprint over and wrap my arms around him, bursting into tears.

"REESE." I feel him drop the wood and cling to me while trying to comfort me. He doesn't say anything, just listens to me sob while the rain drenches us. We stay like that for what i wish was forever, just us and the rain. After a moment he finally mumbles "Kitten whats wrong?" I pull away and try to breathe so i can explain.

"Simon told the cops and Blake where we are." His eyes widen as he moves his soaking wet hair out of his face.

"Fuck, we can't drive anywhere we have a flat tire and I haven't had time to get another one. Shit ok uhh lets just head through the forest towards the car park on the other side, it's only a couple of miles." I nod as we begin to walk.

I look up at the trees and see the rain isn't calming down, as if the world itself is trying to match the storm that is overwhelming my mind.

I wince as i hear cars come to a screeching stop somewhere in the distance and people begin to yell.

Whoever they are, they're here for us. Part of me hopes it's blake because we've outrun them before.

I bite my lip. We both knew this would happen one day, i just never expected it to be so soon.

"ITS THE POLICE, REESE BENSON SHOW YOURSELF." I look at Reese who pauses.

"Benson... i didn't know my last name was benson..."

He quickly grabs my hand and pulls me, both of us now running deeper into the forest, not looking back.

We run for what feels like miles, the rain hitting us like a truck. After a few minutes he looks behind us and pulls us behind a tree.

"Listen Levi, I love you so much. I know i said i didn't but i do. You mean the world to me kitten and i'm so happy we met. You're the best thing to ever happen to me and you make me feel alive amongst the dead." he then smashes his lips against mine, the kiss filled with love and passion, as if we're trying to share our emotions by one kiss.

"You where my new dream Levi." I feel my lip tremble, tears threatening to spill. "And you where mine." With that he gently takes my face and kisses me again, this time with more emotions, as if it's his way of speaking.

The second he pulls away, a small glow surrounds us. We look at each other before I slightly pull up my shorts and so does he to see a small tattoo that looks like a heart beat. He looks at me and grins.

"We're phoenix mates." He kisses me again, but this time more passionate.

"I couldn't be happier levi. I love it, i love you. I want you to travel the world, to live your life with no regrets, adopt a kid and call it ours. I'll always be with you Kitten, i swear i'll always be with you." I begin to sob and cling to his hands.

"Don't leave me, please. I love you. You're my soulmate." He shakes his head and begins to unclip his gem necklace before pulling it off and placing it around my neck.

"I'll always be with you levi, now run. Promise me you wont stop running no matter what Kitten, ignore everything. Just keep running." I shake my head.

"I don't want to leave you." He kisses me again, but this time rougher, with more passion.

"Promise me Levi." I slowly nod, tears streaming down my face.

"I love you Levi." i frown as he lets go of my hand. "I love you too reese." He smiles gently and before walking away.

I watch him for a second before i start to sprint into the forest.

Don't stop Levi. He said don't stop.

"PUT YOUR HANDS UP."

I feel my chest tighten and then pause the second i hear the bang.

I fall behind a large tree that hides me and lean against it. I quickly cover my mouth with my hand, trying to hide my screams.

I feel my whole body continue to shake as i sob and choke on my tears, my chest filling with pain.

As if i felt his pain for him.

This has to be some messed up nightmare.

I will wake up in a minute with him smiling softly at me, making me feel safer than i ever have.

He's not gone

He can't be...

I continue to sob, the rain whirling around me, as if i'm sat in the eye of the storm.

I gently push myself off the tree and start to run, away from the pain thats behind me.

I whimper softly trying not to drown in my emotions or the tears streaming down my face as i run,

because thats what he told me to do, run.
