Cake

Joey's pov-
After Lakira left, Joanne insisted on playing princess. I've been listening to Disney songs on repeat for the last couple hours. After finally getting her and La'kir down, I got a chance to look at my phone. No new messages.

Joey: Great. My probably sick wife hasn't texted me.
Joanne: Daddy I had a nightmare. Can I sleep in your room tonight?
Joey: Sure Apple. Go wait for me.
Joanne: Okay!!

She ran into my room with her teddy bear. I checked my phone one more time before joining Joanne.

Lakira's pov-
Kara decided to be an angel and buy me subway. It was dark by the time we left.

Kara:Should I just get your stuff and then drive you home?
Lakira: Yeah sure. Being home should help my nerves.
Kara: No problem, babes.

She drove back to her apartment and grabbed my things before taking me home. I hugged her and then went inside my house. Once I got inside, I didn't wanna wake anyone up, so I gently placed my keys on the counter. I quietly opened the door to see Joanne sleeping next to Joey.

Lakira: Awww my angels. Guest room it is.

I didn't wanna wake them so I snuck past them and quickly did my routine before going into the guest room. It didn't take me too long to fall asleep. I just had an odd dream about being carried by a giant.

Joey's Pov-
I heard Lakira come in. I'm glad she's safe. She quietly came in and whispered to herself. I didn't quite hear what she said but I did hear the words "Guest room".  When I never felt her lay down next to me, I assumed she went to the guest room to avoid waking us up, so I got up to carry her back to our bed.

Lakira's pov-
That morning I woke up in Joey's arms. I guess my dream about being carried by a giant was pretty accurate. I got up and started getting ready for my day. Once I was, I grabbed the tests I had been hiding and then left Joey a note saying I went to work. Of course that wasn't a lie, I was going to work, but I decided to stop by the store and grab two more tests. Once I was halfway to my company, I called my assistant, Raine.

-Phone call-
Raine: Hello?
Lakira: Raine, it's me, Lakira.
Raine: Ms. Birlem! Hi. Did you need something?
Lakira: I need you to get a chocolate cake and some pink and blue frosting. I'm also gonna need a box, wrapping paper, and a bow.
Raine: Of course, but may I ask for what? Is there a birthday?
Lakira: I'm almost there. I'll explain when I see you
Raine: Of course
Lakira: Thank you. You're a doll
-Call ended-

I hung up the call and kept driving to my company. Upon arriving, I greeted everyone up until I got to the elevator where I met up with Raine.

Raine: Goodmorning boss
Lakira: Goodmorning Raine. I see you got everything I asked for
Raine: I did. So what is this for?
Lakira: I need a creative intern
Raine: Right away!

I grabbed the cake out of her hands, so she could grab her walkie.

Raine: Hi this is Raine, Ms. Birlem's assistant. I need a creative intern. Get Tyler up here please.
Person: Right away!
Lakira: Thank you.

We were finally on the top floor. After putting everything on my table, I had Raine sit down.

Lakira: Let's cut to the chase— I'm pregnant.
Raine: Congratulations Ms. Birlem
Lakira: Thank you. I'm just needing to find a way to tell my husband. Now I know he likes cake so that's my idea
Raine: Seems perfect. Is that why you need Tyler? To decorate the cake?
Lakira: Precisely

As if he heard his que, Tyler walked through the elevator doors.

Tyler: Y-you wanted to see me? Ms. Birlem?
Lakira: Relax, kid. You're not in trouble. I just need you to help me with something
Tyler: Oh. That would be?
Lakira: Could you decorate this cake. It already has white buttercream on it, I just need you to spell out the words: YOU'RE GONNA BE A DAD...again
Tyler: I can do that for you.
Raine: I can wrap the present
Lakira: Before you do that, I'll be right back. Tyler you get on the cake decorating.

I walked into my office bathroom and sighed. Just to be sure. I took both tests back to back. Still positive. Oh my gosh. For a second my fears came back, but I had to calm my nerves and take a deep breath. I looked in the mirror and smiled. Four tests and they're all positive. You'll do great. I promise. Once I was calm, I walked out of the bathroom and placed all four tests in the box.

Lakira: Okay now you can wrap up the box.
Raine: Right away.
Lakira: I really appreciate this you guys
Tyler: No problem.

I noticed the way Raine was admiring Tyler's work. Honestly it looked good.

Raine: Your husband is gonna be really happy. I can tell.

After they finished they're tasks, I gave them the rest of the day off for this. Later, I'm gonna get Kara to help me set up a pregnancy reveal party for everyone at my house. I guess if I'm gonna tell one person, I might as well tell everyone,right?
