Lakira's pov-
I spent the night in the hospital with Joey. I didn't sleep at all. I just say there watching him sleep. Kara came by with Aaron to check up on him and give me a bag of necessities. They stayed for about an hour before leaving again. I stayed holding his hand, studying his face.

Lakira: You're so beautiful. Stupid, but beautiful.

He was still asleep. I'm guessing he was dreaming because his eyes were still moving.

Lakira: I hate hospitals. Always have, always will. I hated them when I was little. I hated them when Joanne was born. I hated them when La'kir was born. And I hate them now. They're just so chaotic and loud during the day. But at night. Oh my gosh. Nights are terrible. It's quiet and cold. You can't hear anything except machines beeping and the doctors running around.

Still no response.

Lakira: You know what? You're asleep and I need to say this. I'm only saying this because you won't remember it.

I took a deep breath and squeezed his hand.

Lakira: I'm scared. I am so scared. I just don't wanna lose you. You're my rock. I wouldn't be able to do this without you. I already said all this to Bella, but that was before I knew you needed surgery. It's just-

It got too hard to hold back my tears. I full on ugly sobbed.

Lakira: You can't leave me. Please just stay here. I want you to watch Joanne go to her first day of school. I want you to watch La'kir go to preschool. I want you to be here in the hospital holding my hand while I give birth to two more babies. Stay here and watch our kids grow up. Please Jojo... stay with me.

I squeezed his hand again, while trying to calm down. I felt him squeezed my hand back.

Joey: I'm alive and awake by the way
Lakira: Joey! Oh my gosh. You're awake. Oh you heard that
Joey:. I did and just know that I'm not gonna leave you, baby. We can get through this. I'm going to recover.
Burkley: Right you are Mr.Birlem. You should be making a full recovery
Lakira: That's great! For how long?
Burkley: He should be his regular self in 4 to 6 weeks
Joey: And my hair?
Lakira: What?
Joey: They shaved my head. I just wanna know when my hair was gonna grow back
Burkley: Your hair should grow back in fully in early as two months, sir.
Joey: Excellent
Burkley: I'll get those discharge papers to you

She left the room leave me and Joey alone.

Lakira: I'll kill you if you ever almost die again
Joey: Okay your logic is kinda off. Do you have a tumor too?
Lakira: That's not funny. I was actually scared.
Joey: I was too, but you gotta find the reason to laugh when shit like this happens. And when shit happens... fuck it. Fuck the shit
Lakira: "Fuck the shit." Okay. I get it now
Joey: Good. Now go out there, sign those papers, and let's get me a sandwich
Lakira: Right away babe. I guess just get ready to go and meet me at the front?
Joey: Will do

I walked out of the room and met Dr.Burkley at the front desk. After filling out the forms, I saw Joey walking towards me.

Lakira: Ready?
Joey: Always

I intertwined my fingers with him and walked to my car. While driving to the nearest subway, I felt a sense of relief. He's alive.
