Tw: Hints at harm or abuse, glass shattering

Au: Human Au

Genre: Angst

A/N: I'm not sure if this is how song oneshots work but like ¯\_()_/¯ also changing the pronouns cause Roman is gay. Also I stopped the song after the second chorus so I could be more creative.

I heard glass shatter on the wall in the apartment above mine, at first I thought that I was dreaming.

Roman was sitting in his room watching Beauty in the Beast at 10pm at night (like one does). He was minding his own business when he heard a loud noise that sounded like glass shattering. The prince-like boy jumped "what was that?!" He said with a shaky voice. Roman sighed, jumping to the conclusion that he must have been just imagining things. He glanced over at the tv, turing it off "maybe I should try to sleep now." He said, trying to shake the thought away.

But then I heard the voice of a boy and sounded like he'd been crying, now I'm too worried to be sleeping.

Roman layed down on his bed, sighing to himself. "You were just hearing things Roman." He reminded himself. He closed his eyes attempting to sleep when he heard something else. Crying..from upstairs. Roman could feel himself getting even more worried, a pit feeling in his stomach.

So I took the elevator to the second floor

Roman sighed getting out of his bed, he couldn't let himself just sit here while someone was clearly in pain. He rushed out of his apartment and stormed through the halls. He nervously stepped into the elevator, pressing the button to take him to the second floor.

Walked down the hall, and then I knocked opon his door.

The Prince like boy quietly walked down the hall, hoping he wouldn't wake anyone else up. He passed his friend Logan's door before getting to the boy's door. He took a deep breath before knocking.

He opened up, and I asked about the things I've been hearing.

Roman stood there for a moment worriedly before a short and distressed boy opened it. The boy had dark brown hair with purple tips, pale skin, and was wearing a purple and black sweater. "H-hi what d-do you want?" He asked anxiously. Roman looked at the boy sympatheticly and stated "Hi, sorry to bother you but I heard glass shattering and...crying from downstairs, I was wondering if you are okay? Do you need help?" Roman clearly had a worried tone in his voice.

He said....

"I think your ears are playing tricks on you." The short boy forced out a laugh, yet it was very much fake.

Sweater zipped up to his chin

Roman opened his mouth to say something but decided against it. The boy just looked at Roman and said "thanks for caring sir, that's nice of you but I have to go back in." He looked down, refusing to look Roman in the eyes before saying "wish I could tell you about the noise but I didn't hear a thing." He said "It must have been the wind."

Must have been the wind, must have been the wind, it must have been the wind.

Roman replayed those words in his head, 'must have been the wind' he glanced up at the boy, who looked extremely anxious "y-you can go now...thank you..." He mumbled. Roman didn't know what to say, he wanted to say something to the boy but ended up just nodding and heading back to his apartment.

So I was laying on the floor in my room, cold concrete on my back. No I just couldn't shake the feeling.

Roman layed down on the floor of his apartment, sighing to himself. All he could think about was that boy, a part of him knew he was lying, he just knew. He felt so bad for him, but didn't have any idea how to help him.

I didn't want to intrude because I didn't have all the facts, but I couldn't bare the thought of leaving him.

                               The next day

Roman sighed to himself, that worried feeling still with him. He replayed what had happened yesterday in his head as he sat on his bed by himself.
So I took the elevator to the second floor, walked down the Hall and then I knocked upon his door. He opened up, and I asked about the thing I've been hearing.

Roman sighed as he continued to think about the night before, the boy looked so scared and nervous. Roman also thought the purple haired boy was quite attractive but he tried to push that thought away because he was worrying about other things right now.

He said, I think your ears are playing tricks on you. Sweater zipped up to his chin. Thanks for caring sir thats nice of you but I have to go back in. Wish I could tell you about the noise but I don't hear a thing. He said it must have been the wind.

'Must have been the wind.. ' Roman mumbled to himself, he knew that wasn't true, it couldn't be. The boy was in trouble, and Roman needed to help him, after all it was the prince like thing to do in that situation. He just didn't know how to help him. Suddenly the fanciful boy jumped up from the noise of someone knocking on his door. He sighed and walked to his door, assuming it was one of his friends Patton or Logan he said "Guys I'm kind of busy right now-" He suddenly stopped as he opened the door to see the purple-haired boy from before "h-hi can I come in...?" He asked anxiously, to which Roman quickly nodded in response. "Here, please come in. Sit down wherever, making yourself feel at home." The princely boy insisted. The purple haired boy awkwardly sat down, he didn't know what to say, and honestly didn't know why he was here. He glanced up at Roman and just hugged him tightly. "T-thanks..." He whispered. Roman was very confused, but he let the shorter boy hug him "for what?" The boy sniffled and just said "caring, a-about me." Roman let out a small smile "of course, you don't have to tell me what happened yet if you aren't comfortable though...uhm..sorry I don't know your name?"
The boy finally smiled slightly "It's Virgil."

Roman giggled "hah, Virgin."
