Thanks so much for everything, everyone!! I love you all, and as always, hope you enjoy!! ♡♡♡

Papyrus had set an alarm for 6 in the morning, though he had known all along it was unnecessary. He was incapable of sleeping due to his mind racing all night long. He was confident in the plan he had created weeks in advance, but he found himself running through the steps over and over.

He decided his motions with lots of careful thought. He was more than prepared for any possible outcome. He was determined to make today one that you would always cherish, because his plan was meticulous and flawless. Papyrus had mapped everything out in his mind, every event and tiny little detail. He knew want he was going to wear, what he wanted to say, what emotions he was going to share and the ways he would convey them.

The beeping alarm pierced his skull. Each irksome chime pummeled down into him, a groan escaping his mouth as he slumped to a sitting position. He wasn't just tired, he was exhausted. Papyrus tried to move his limbs, his bones heavy and groggy from lack of sleep. He silenced the alarm, aggressively pounding his fist into it's structure.

He allowed his body to flop back into bed for a moment longer, the impact of his fall causing the mattress to bounce and shake you awake. Warily, you murmured his name, rubbing the sleep from your eyes. "What time is it...?"

The skeleton flinched hard as you splayed your arm across his chest. "OH, U-UH--" His voice crumbled and cracked, he hacked into his elbow and sniffled wetly. "EXCUSE ME... AROUND SIX. I SUGGEST YOU SLEEP A TAD BIT LONGER, DARLING."

"I suggest you do too," You propped yourself up with your elbows, examining his lazy gaze. "You sound stuffy today."

"DO I...?" He chuckled lightly, "I NEVER SOUND STUFFY, SO I SUPPOSE THAT IS STRANGE."

You hummed. Your weight relied on a single elbow now as you felt his forehead. The back of your hand didn't even need to make contact with it to tell you that Papyrus was burning up.

"I think you have a fever..." Your tone was hushed, but that did nothing to stop Papyrus from a fiercely passionate reply.

"ME?? A FEVER?? NONSENSE!!" The mucus in his throat was audible, contradicting himself before you could.

"Did you catch it from someone or something?" You asked, a growing concern building inside your tummy. "It's the middle of summer. You don't think it's--"

"Y/N, PLEASE~!" He scoffed, waving a hand to dismiss your worries. "I JUST NEED A SNAPPY WINK OF SLEEP!! I GUARANTEE YOU, IN TWENTY MINUTES OR LESS, YOUR TERRIFIC BOYFRIEND WILL BE IN TIP-TOP SHAPE!! AND HE WILL MAKE YOU BOTH A BIG BREAKFAST AND YOU WILL SHARE THE BEST ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY YOU'VE EVER HAD, AT LEAST THUS FAR, SINCE IT IS YOUR FIRST ANNIVERSARY, A-A--"

Papyrus's face scrunched up. It contorted into a look of woozy disgust. He then released the most comical, most clown-like, most animated sneeze you had ever heard.

"PUH-PARDON ME..."

"Gesundheit!"

"THANK YOU, LOVE." He seemed humiliated with himself, so you made a desperate effort not to laugh at his goofy and exaggerated actions.

Dramatically, he stretched out across the bed, an arm pulling you toward him as he let out a wail.

"Papyrus you're sick just surrender to it's grasp"

"BUT I HAD A WONDERFUL DAY PLANNED, FOR JUST THE TWO OF US...!" His mouth grazed against your ear, his words pleading and soft. "I wanted to make it especially special."

"Seems like I'll have to take care of you today." You shrugged, a bit excited to be at his aid. You felt as though you owed him a billion favors because of all he's ever done for you, and today was your chance to pay him back. "It will still be the two of us...! I can make you soup, and we can sit on the couch to watch movies."

Usually getting Papyrus to settle down was not a simple task... him being ill was no exception. You have dragged him down to the living room and made the couch up just for his comfort. "Rest here while I make you something for breakfast!"

He reluctantly gave in... or so you thought. As you began to chop vegetables to add to the broth, Papyrus stumbled beside you. "LEMME HELP YOU," He slurred out. "PLEASE, I CAN'T JUST SIT AND WATCH..."

"Honey, go sit down, I swear." You pointed the knife you were using at him jokingly. All he could manage was a sigh. "Watch Mettaton or something, this will be done soon."

"ALRIGHTY..." He grumbled, sluggishly returning to the couch. As soon as he leaned back, his eyelids drooped. He sniffled, attempting to force himself awake to keep you company. "DARLING..."

"Yes?" You responded dutifully.

"DID YOU KNOW THAT...." He trailed off, his speech turning into a symphony of sleepy muttering.

You humored yourself, delighted that he was relaxing. "Really, I had no idea!"

"IT'S QUITE FASCINATING, ISN'T IT...."

"I'll say."

When the soup had finally been finished, you hoped to enter the living room to see Papyrus lounging on the couch and dreaming away. Instead, his spindly body was snoozing on the ground. "WH--" You couldn't even fathom how he had managed to doze off there... he was in a painfully awkward position. He must have been a lot more tired than you pictured.

You grunted as you lifted him onto the couch. Somehow his head ended up in your lap, the rest of him trailing behind and taking up the majority of the couch. You giggled at his stuffy snores; somehow, the sound had woken him once again.

"You can go back to sleep, if you'd like." You grinned. "It's still pretty early. If you sleep now, you may feel better later."

"I don't wanna sleep!" He mewled, shaking his heavy head, "I don't wanna waste any time that I get to spend with you by doing something as minuscule as sleeping."

"Lots of rest is important," You stroked his head gently. "Especially when you're sick. Wouldn't you say the same thing to me if I were in your shoes?"

Papyrus hummed dreamily, a sing-songy sound as if to serenade himself. You realized quickly that it was the jingle to Mettaton's cooking show, prompting you to hum along.

"You sound pretty..." He smiled in awe, eyes remaining closed but his tone was sincere. Your hand continued to trail itself around his skull, eventually landing on his chin. You tickled it, expecting a girlish laugh.

Rather, his reaction was intense. Papyrus shot up, booming with laughter. His face was flushed from either embarrassment or because he was sick. It was hard to say, but the rest of the day was filled with snuggles and pure joy. You cuddled into each other's arms and giggled for hours...

Though it was not the anniversary Papyrus planned out, he didn't mind this one bit.

"HAPPY ANNIVERSARY, Y/N...! THANK YOU FOR TAKING CARE OF ME TODAY." He beamed, hugging you tight.

"Happy anniversary, it was my pleasure! I love you so much."

"I LOVE YOU MOSTEST~!"
