CHAPTER SIX

I jump into the water as I feel my bones rearranging themselves to bring out my mermaid form.

God! How I missed this!

And then it dawns on me...
Shit ! I just broke a rule. A rule that said I should  not come to water until my mission is complete.

But that isn't the only rule I realize I've broken so far..i was warned not to associate with humans but I had taken Elena in and even gone to a school full of humans.

How do I reverse this? I was not supposed to forget the damn rules and so far I had not found a single clue that could help me.

I had completely forgotten what had brought me to the lands but that would change today .

I am the first to reach our meeting  spot and I find that she's not there. I have to wait for some time before she shows up looking over her shoulder her face full of worry.

"Anita is there something that you are not telling me?" I quickly asked

"I'm fine thanks for asking!" She answers sarcastically carefully shifting the topic

"How far are you gone with completing your mission ?"

"You know, I haven't done anything related to that until now," I said avoiding her eyes

I expected her to shout at me, to lecture me on how I was supposed to do my part, to ramble on how I was a failure but she did none of that .

She took deep breaths before looking at me with worry in her eyes.
She looked scared , impatient and in between their conversation she would be looking over her shoulders in an uncomfortable way.
"You need to act fast Ella . And come back home as soon as possible because we need you so much right now. I don't have much time before they realize I'm not there and come for me so please find a plan and act on it so fast before it's too late."

And with that she turned to leave without looking at me but I could see the numerous crystal pearls she was leaving behind
"Anita wait! Mother and father don't have any problem if you're within the kingdom premises so why are you saying you don't have enough time ?"
By the time I finished talking , she was already out of earshot.
Did I disappoint her so much that she didn't want to look at me or even talk to me?

I swam towards the shore with a heavy heart and crystal pearls full in my hands.
And then I heard the voices. It was pitch dark and in approximation , I could tell it was around three in the morning .

"Danny please give me a chance to be your girl. I've tried all possible ways to make you notice me but you don't even look my way. I am not beautiful Danny ?"
I easily recognized that voice. I could never mistake it for anyone else's own.
That's ......that's Stevie .
What is she doing out here in the dark when she is supposed to in town sleeping or doing whatever she does in her house at in the early morning.

"Don't call me Danny ! I only choose the people to call me that and you're not one of those people so stick to my name. Why are you so desperate to have me when your father has all the money in the world and you can any man you want without begging !"
The male voice said and it sounded very familiar .

A part of me wanted to leave and have a great sleep but the curious part wanted her to stay and listen further so having changed into human , she listened further

' The thing is you are the one I want, the one I will have and Mark my words Travis , I always get what I want!"

I gasped at that! So it was true Stevie was so obsessed with Travis.
Ugh! What was it with girls always forcing themselves on men that don't give a damn about them.

I left them to their argument and headed home . My classes started in the  mid morning so I would have enough sleep to regain the energy I lost while crying.

I found the house calm, meaning Elena was sleeping so I headed to my room and found the outfit she had chosen for me.

I was awed at the sight and imagined myself in it.
Damn! The girl had taste when it came to fashion .

I sighed as I went to sleep wondering how I would manage to come up with a plan in just three hours .

I found a sticky note on the fridge. It read:
Good morning sleepy head. I had an exam this morning and I didn't want to wake you up considering that you came so late yesterday but I have prepared you coffee to calm your nerves and keep you active.
L.o.l   Elena

I smiled at this knowing very well how addicted I was to her coffee.
This girl was too sweet to be true .

I then headed to the bathroom to prepare myself for school.
The outfit Elena had picked up for me consisted of a blue body hugging dress. It was sleeveless and bare at the back. The front was laced with Crystal pearls that I recognized as mine . It reached just above the knees giving me a confident vibe.
I didn't know how to use those makeups so I just used my normal lotion and held my hair in a high ponytail even though it still reached my waist.
To top it all was a pair of crystal wedges that sparkled so much .

Is it a coincidence that Elena chose crystal outfits tonight?, I'll think about that later on but now I had a girl to make jelous and a man to get smitten by me.

Elena had used our car so I had to hail a cab to school.
While waiting for one , a poster on an electric pole caught my attention . I didn't know how I got there but I do remember the words that made me miss school that day.

Written in bold, it said;
SCOTT SEA FACTORY INVITES ALL INTERESTED PARTICIPANTS TO APPLY FOR A PART TIME MANAGERIAL JOB. THE INTERVIEW WILL BE HELD IN THE FACTORY'S PREMISES AT 12:30PM ON 24TH MARCH 2018
