CHAPTER THIRTY

Elena eyed me up and down before her face broke into a nasty smile.

Travis and Stevie are passed out on the floor while Smith is bleeding profusely next to them.

"Well well well ! Look who we decided to join the party.  We finally meet again but!That easier than I had expected ."
She said the stupid smile still implanted on her face.

I am tempted to lunge at her and slit her throat for good but I can't for two reasons ; she has me and my friends at her mercy and we all know that she is way way stronger than me.

If you ever find yourself sorrounded and your enemies are having the upper hand, use your mind not your strength .

My mother's words rang in my head and I smiled back at her.

"What are you smiling at Daniella?" She snapped just as I had expected

"It's funny how I housed you and you happened to be this psycho bitch. Why didn't I realize anything? Ooh , I forgot.... You're also conniving and a good pretender so it's kinda normal for you to behave that way !"

I don't see what is coming until her hand landed sharply on my cheek and I moved back.

I never intended to get that reaction out of her and to say I'm shocked is an understatement .

Elena's eyes are red and she is breathing so hard like a wounded buffalo.

"Do you know how much I sacrificed to stay with you? Do you how many times I wanted to lock you in that room and get the truth out of you ? Do you even know how it hurt my pride to play nice to you ? If you think you did me a favor then I did you a favor too. Otherwise I would have tortured the truth out of you so stick to your lane !"

I stared at her lost for words .
Did she just turn the tables on me ?

I tried hard to stop myself from laughing but I couldn't. Humans... Humans...

"You call that a favor? You could have stayed with your father and spared us this drama Elena ! I took you in and it's not my fault that I have a pure heart but it's your fault that you lied to me !"

Her eyes held no remorse whatsoever and I was left wondering what kind of a person was she.

"I am only keeping you alive because of the ritual but trust me I'll be the one to slit your body parts one by one as you watch ! If I were you I would save my breath ."

"Don't you have a conscience Elena ?"

"I did but not anymore . My mother would be surprised to learn that I went out of my way to prepare you my sweet coffee and bought you expensive pearls but you were so dump.. you didn't realize I knew you were a pure heart ! And you refused to tell me how exactly you became one. Maybe that's a story for another day if you survive .."

"How do you know that I didn't tamper with my purity? I lost it and I'm no longer pure hearted !"
I said in an attempt to make her stop that ritual madness

"Oh darling , I am not that stupid . I can sense it and that's is why you landed right into my hands. I can sense you far away though for some hours there I lost you. Where did you go exactly ?"

I remembered that those few hours were the ones I spent in water and that only meant one thing.. she couldn't sense me while I was in water otherwise that would lead her right into our kingdom .

"That's none of your business I presume !" I snapped earning a wicked smile from her

Her father is seated on the car bonnet looking disinterested in our exchange.
He had a cigarette in his mouth blowing puff after puff.

His only interest is Smith as he is watching him writhe in pain from the bleeding wound. It's only then that I noticed the gun in Martin's left hand a confirmation that he had shot Smith .

"Elena are you done ?"  He drawls obviously bored

"Yes father !" She answered dutifully

Davis jumps from the car bonnet landing on the hard floor on his legs.

He paused throwing the remaining  cigarette stepping on it before walking towards Smith , his hands in his pockets.

When he reached where he was, he bent down so that they were on the same eye level and held him on his head.

"Where did you take the fish ?" He barked

Smith looked away and spat on the floor avoiding my gaze before answering
" The fish swam away !"

This did not fit well with Davis because in an instant he had tackled Smith down raining blows on him

"Don't ever answer me back dimwit ! How could you let it get away ? You know what, I'll make you the fish and finish my experiment !"

Smith widened his eyes swallowing hard.

"You...you. you wouldn't dare !"  He stammered getting tired from the bleeding and the blows Davis had just rained on him.

"Ooh boy ! You messed with the wrong guy !"

Davis turned around cocking his gun but Elena's voice stopped him

"We only have ten minutes remaining father. Let's hurry , we will deal with this guy and the others later !"

Luckily , he listened to Elena  and all the attention shifted to me.

I grew uncomfortable in my own skin because of the way he was looking at me.

He nodded his head whistling as he stripped me with his eyes.

I could see his eyes turning red before he looked away heading for the car

"You know what to do."

In a blink of an eye, the two hefty looking men were on me as they dragged me to their car.

I tried to fight them... I tried to push them away but they were adamant as they held my thrashing legs and arms in place.

One look at Travis, Stevie and Smith had me wailing loudly because this could as well be the last time that I sety eyes on them while they were unconscious .

I didn't see the handkerchief that was used to cover my nose as everything started spinning.

The ground beneath me started spinning as I swayed like a drunkard before I was engulfed in darkness ...
