CHAPTER TWENTY SIX

As I reached the door, my hand lingered on the door knob

I couldn't just let him be.. my whole clan would be in danger if I left him because him together with the others would find us.

So I moved back heading to the cubicle

And by the way he wudens his eyes it's evident that he is so shocked

"Daniella ? It's Daniella right? You are the new managing director of the Scott company right?"

I smirk at him
"Never thought you could be that smart !"

"Ho... How?"

"How what? Complete your question Mr...??"

"Don't mind my name. You were just a fish some minutes ago and now you're human? How is that possible? Even if I tell people that you are a mermaid none of them will believe me !"

"Some questions have no answers but I have questions that you have answers to." I said bored

"And what makes you think that I will answer any of those questions ?" He asked

"Because you are in the prison now and I'm out. I saw you press some buttons some where and they drained all the water from the cubicle so I will just press another that will refill it and see how long you can hold up !" I smirked

"You wouldn't dare !" He said clenching his fist
"After all there is no button that can refill this cubicle!" He said his face brightening up with a huge smile

For the few months that I had lived with the humans I learnt a lot from them . The main lesson being to never trust their words.. they could do anything to save their skin regardless of who got hurt on the way

"I guess we will have to find out. You are testing my patience guard ..."

This was the same guard that shot his fellow when I first got to land.
Even though he could not recognize me as the girl who made him shoot his fellow, I recognized him

I moved towards the buttons and started checking them out
Each had an indication at the bottom

The buttons were five in total.

A blue one written 'refill ' at the bottom

A red one written 'heat'  at the bottom

A green one written 'drain'  at the bottom

A yellow one written open at the bottom

And finally a black one written close at the bottom

"Well well well well! I see more options than I thought of. " I told him as I saw him tense trying to maintain a poker face

"You won't do a thing ! Those buttons react to a specified fingerprints !"

I would have believed him but then his trembling voice gave him away

"Let me try and see, even if I won't do a thing then I will have tried."

His eyes widened as my fingers traced the blue button but he still acted stubborn

"I won't breath a word to you try as much as you can !"

I was so intrigued by his confidence yet he didn't know the questions I wanted to ask

"Why are you so stubborn when you don't know the questions I wanted to ask you? Maybe I wanted to ask you what your name is or where is this place ? Is there something that you fear is going to bring you down once I ask and you are forced to answer ?"

He looks away from me uncomfortably

"I thought so because I think you carry yourself more than a security guard. Who are you and what are your plans with mermaids? And who are you working for because the last time I checked Mr Gabriel had cancelled everything about your illegal activities!"

"I said I won't answer a thing !"

Torture was not something I had ever inflicted on anyone but I thought I had to change that notion that very day

"Okay!"

I pressed the blue button and in seconds, the water was already shoulder high on him.

I pressed it once more and the water stopped

"You are just a girl. You can do nothing!"

"Okay!"

I traced my fingers on the red button and the horror on his face made a smile to form on my face

"What... What are you doing? That switch is so dangerous get your hands off it!"

"I want to boil you duh! Are you willing to talk or I should just do that, "

"I won't talk !"

I pressed the button and the water started to heat. The steam started rising and I knew that I had him where I wanted.

"I will talk, please stop heating the water," he begged

"You sure about that? I thought you would never talk ."

I pressed the red button once again and he slowly breathed out

"Who are you working with?" I asked

"You don't know him!"

"I won't ask again !"

He seemed to be weighing his options before turning to me

"Even if I tell you that you won't even get out of here alive because there are security personnel outside those walls with loaded guns. And they know about the weird fish we caught so it's not like you will get away so it's a win win for me, you kill me you get killed!"

I weighed his words trying to figure out what to do but then all he had done was to lie to me the entire time he had been in there.

"Fine."
He relaxed at this unaware of the next words I wanted to say
"J guess I'll just kill you and get killed myself . But I get the last laugh because you won't see me die ,"

When I make to press the red button he speaks out

"Fine I'll tell you who is behind this but you need to promise to keep me safe from him !"

"And why am I supposed to keep you safe?" I queried

"Because nobody knows who he is except me. He has been sending people to give us instructions but nobody has ever seen him except me and he knows that. Everybody calls him boss so if his name is brought up then he'll definitely know that it's me."

I can't refuse him but again I won't uphold my promise
"I promise,!"

He blows out a breath before speaking
"His name is Davis Martins."

Why does that name sound familiar ...

So guys I'm really sorry for the delays. Something just came up and it's really important. Though it will just take this week for now just bear with me. When I figure it out I'll come back and even give you double inserts . For now get contented with the delays

Apart from that, we've reached the middle of the story and I really want to have a question answer part ..drop any question you have about the characters in the chapters you've read or even on the plot of the story . You'll get your answers. But don't ask ahead of this chapter please.
