CHAPTER NINETEEN

I wake up with the feel of fingers playing in my hair.
This is the same way mother used to play with my hair every morning just to wake me up and annoy me all the same

"Mother.. I told you I don't like it when you do that but you don't listen. "
I said without opening my eyes because I'm still sleepy but the fingers don't stop threading their way into my hair.

"Mother, I'm trying to sleep here please stop,"

Instead of my mother sighing like she always does, I hear a deep chuckle .
All the sleep vanishes from my eyes and I sit up throwing those hands off me panic written all over my face

"Hey.. Ella it's me. It's Travis."

I realized that I have been looking all over the place but not his direction and I must admit that I just made a fool out of myself .

I am pissed at him for no clear reason so the only thing I do is punch him on his ribs and his groan of pain brings a smile to myself .

"What is wrong with you?" He asked clearly annoyed

"Get out of my room now!" I command breathing heavily

"Excuse me but this is my house and I get to enter any room that I like so suck up your sour attitude and behave."

I want to hit him again but I'm smart enough to know that he is way stronger than me . So I just plopped myself on the mattress facing upwards.

Minutes later, the space beside mine was occupied
"What was that all about?" He asked staring at the ceiling

"I don't know. It's only my mother who used to wake me up like that  even though I hated it and when I heard your deep chuckle instead of her voice , I lost it. I'm sorry."

"It's okay. Mind telling me about our people ?"

"Not at all. What do you want to know ?" I asked glad that the topic had shifted

"You know in all history , there is always that one villain in a story . That one person who wants to overthrow the rulers and take over. Do you happen to have one? I want to hear about him or her." He said

This caught me off guard
"Wha.. what did you say ?"

"Did I say anything wrong Ella?" He asked turning to look at me

"No. Not at all. I'm just surprised that you would ask such a question."

"It's fine if you can't answer it but I love stories with villains especially political villains."

"Actually we have one. And she is a girl . Her name was Likarica and the most prettiest girl in the kingdom back then . Nobody ever thought she would turn out like she did. Lika embraced dark powers that turned the one sweet girl into a power hungry one. She stopped associating herself with other people and made her own dark kingdom. With time she became so powerful no one could stand against her. She started attacking our kingdom and forward first time she won. Nobody knew where she got the power to fight the mighty king. But they say that darkness in most cases is stronger than light. Right?" I asked to be sure that he was following.

"I don't agree but go on."

"So she ruled for some time before one of her loyal servants drove a dagger through her heart but before she died she said she would reincarnate and rule with dark powers again."

"And did you find a solution to her problem?" He asked

"The creator told us that there is only one person who can kill her for good but we have never seen that person . So we kinda believe that it's just a myth."

"And do you know her reincarnate ?" He continued asking

"Not yet but my father might know. I'll have to ask him when I get home." I answered truthfully

"So who is this person who can kill Likarica?"

"He or she has a unique color of the tail."

"Which color is that ?"

"I can't remember it though , it's been long since father told us the story ." I lied on this one.
I couldn't tell him because he might hunt down the person and do whatever he wished to do.
Don't blame me for being such overrated

"I see. Thanks for that. I just wanted to know about that today and I'll ask you another question another day." He said cheerfully

"It's fine. Now it's your turn . Tell me where you got those colors from "

"I don't feel like telling you right now but I can show you where they are."

"What are we waiting for, let's move ." I said getting up and pushing him outside

"How do you even know it's outside the house ?"

"I know that. Come on just show me."

"I want us to go into the water, your answer is in there."

I jumped first into the water changing into my golden tail and palms.
"Wow !" Travis exclaimed mesmerized by the beauty

I urged him to also jump in and he did so, after some time though.

The moment he started changing my eyes popped out of my sockets.

He was so handsome..so breathtaking .. so fine . He could easily put the Greek gods to shame.

But that is not what made me surprised..that is not what had me anxiously awaiting our return to land

It's the color of his fish tail...it was the same color his room was painted. Dark fiery green and the bottom had sparkling white.

"What are you staring at? I hope you just got your answer."
I nodded profusely headed to land worry on my face.

He was the one who was supposed to kill Likarica's reincarnate.

But how?... How? He knew nothing about fighting with powers. I doubted if he even knew that he had strong Powers.

"Ella wait ! Let's swim for a little bit."

"Not now. I need to be somewhere right now."

Truth is, I was disappointed that he was the one chosen to kill a powerful mermaid like Likarica.
