CHAPTER SEVEN

It's too late when I realized that I didn't carry any supportive documents to help me secure the job.

I sat in the waiting area my mind already conjuring ideas to help me convince the management to give me the job.
Not that I really needed the job but something kept on telling  me that this was the clue that I was looking for and this is the factory that I was supposed to stop.

An annoyed middle aged man comes out from a door next to me, banging the door as he cussed and stomped away before turning to look at me and muttered between clenched teeth
"The next applicant to go in !"

I stood up and walked inside sat down without being told and the panel looked at me shocked each pretending to clear their throats .

"So do you have any documents to support your application ?" One old man with a bald head asked me seriously

"I have none." I answered without blinking

The pure shock on their face was priceless ... I was riling them up and I can't say I wasn't enjoying the show.

"So how do you expect to get this job ?" Another middle aged woman asked

" I have enough experience!" I answered yet again.

"Many people want this job. They desire to work for me and here you come and make it a joking matter huh!" The old man snapped angrily

"With all due respect sir, I am not making this a joking matter! I believe I have enough experience and I'm even more wealthier than you and your whole company so it's like I'm doing you a huge favor!" I shot back and I could tell I had hit a nerve

"What did you say young lady?" The old man was fuming in rage as he looked at me the others trying so hard to contain him.

"You heard me right sir. I don't need to repeat myself !" My plan was working .
These wealthy people valued their ego and fame than even the money that others thought they did.

"GET OUT NOW! " He roared, his eyes completely red his veins threatening to pop out of his skin.

But I was not going down without a fight.
"You know if I leave here, I'll just go to your rival factory and make them Excel more than you. Very few people know this but I am the anonymous wealthiest tycoon in this town." I breathed out knowing that if this didn't convince him then there is no other way.

On the contrary, he seemed to calm down taking deep calming breathes until they were even before saying
"Sit down! We have business to talk about."

Thirty minutes later , I left the factory premises a happy woman. I was now the managing director of Scott sea factory and I had all the details needed to start my work the next day.

Why are you so happy tonight ? Did you win the lottery?" Elena asked me over dinner .

"I just landed myself the best job in town!" I said excited

"Is that why you didn't come to school today? My efforts amounted to nothing !" She said dramatically

"It's just an outfit Elena. You can just go into the closet and find another one besides I went to an interview with it and I got the job."

"It's not that easy to match outfits..." She continued to complain and I rolled my eyes

"I'll buy you lunch tomorrow at school . Deal?"

"Deal!" She replied happily.
"So what is your job all about?"

I thought she had forgotten all about it but I was already prepared for this. Should I tell her the truth or lie to her?
No! There was enough secrets between us and I didn't want to add more .

"I am the new manager at Scott's sea factory,"

"You are what ??" She asked unbelievably

"You heard me right," I said nervously wringing my hands together

"How?" She continued not believing a word I was saying

Right on time, we heard a vibration. It sounded like a mobile phone but I knew better.
"I'll just take my phone and come back,"
I quickly said running upstairs without waiting for a reply .

Getting inside my room, I bolted my door from inside to ensure that Anita didn't walk in on me.

I took my private keys and opened a private drawer on the wall retrieving my magic mirror .

On the screen was my father. His face looked tired and...pale. He wasn't sick for all I knew

"Father!" I gasped with concern

"How are you honey ?" He asked as he tried to hide the way he flinched at each word he uttered

"Are you okay Daddy ?" I couldn't stop myself from asking

"I'll be fine honey. How far have you gotten with the task at hand ?" He probed further

"I just became a manager in that company so things will start changing as from tomorrow ,"

"That's my girl. Have you broken any of the rules ?"

I sighed and decided to lie to him , I was not going to stress him for no reason
"No father , I have broken none of them. But where is mum?" I asked

"Your mom is fine. She is sleeping right now and I missed you but I also didn't want to wake her up," he hastily replied

Something was not right. First mother never slept during the day and secondly father never called me without mother beside him regardless of what was happening and lastly the way father was flinching at each word showed that he was hurt but he didn't want to tell me.

"Are you sure dad!" I found myself asking again

"Yes.. yes of course ,"

"And how is the kingdom?"

An emotion flashed in his eyes that he was fast to mask that I asked myself if it was even there or I was just imagining things

"It's doing good," he said swallowing dryly avoiding my gaze
"Look honey, I need to go but always remember that your mother and I love you very much no matter what happens . You have to be strong !"

"What do you mean father ?"

Instead of giving me an answer, the mirror went dark signalling that the communication was locked.
