"What do you mean?" I asked playing dumb
"You know exactly what I am talking about, who sent you to investigate about this factory and bring it down? He said
Silence.
"Tell me how much he pays you, I will pay you double to keep your mouth shut and do what I tell you to go do only." He continued
Now this got to me and I felt myself boil in anger .
"You think it's that easy?" I laughed at his stupidity
"The one I work for, is way wealthier than you. His wealth is far greater than this stupid factory combined with the wealth of all the tycoons of this town combined . So tell me, why should I leave him and come to you? And funny enough he doesn't pay me, I'm just loyal to him and not you or anyone can take that away from me?"
His mouth dropped at my words.... The exact reaction I was expecting
"Who is it?" He asked
"That's for me to know and for you to find out old man. Now let's come to a mutual agreement now don't we?"
I was now seated on my leather chair swinging as I played with a pen my eyes not leaving his.
"And what is that supposed to mean ?" He asked
"I want you to call off the double fishing stategy , to stop dumping the factory's waste in the sea and to remove those traps around the sea shore!" I said without blinking
"I can't do that, you don't know why I do what I do. Sometimes you have to get your hands dirty to get things done the correct way."
"It wasn't a request old man !" I missed
"And you expect me to do all your bidings because?" He countered his eyes blazing
"Because I will leak these documents to the media and everyone will know about the dirty things you have been doing behind everyone's back !" I was getting annoyed with how he was making everything hard.
"Who is everyone?" He laughed at me a glint in his eyes
"The government,The boards and your rivals !"
He sneered at me before continuing
"I told to mind your own business and stop involving yourself in a circle that you know nothing of. Have you forgotten that money does everything? That's what works here and maybe or maybe not the people you're talking about know what is going on behind the scenes ."
And without another glance he left my office leaving me to think about the 'circle' Gabriel Scott was talking about.
At lunch break I decided to go to school so I could show Stevie what I was made of... And maybe get to see him.
"Tell Mr Gabriel I left early in case he asks for me." I told the receptionist on my way out.
Hailing a cab, I got in and gave my destination.
I headed towards my locker to retrieve my notebook so i could head to my class.
I just hope it is not history .... again
People are still on lunch break so the hallways are almost empty.
I see Stevie and her minions next to my locker and I smirk.
I fix my hair and my dress before cat walking to them.
"You guys are leaning on my locker. I want to use it!" I said boredly
Stevie looked at me and I smirked as she tried to adjust her hair, her skimpy dress that hardly covered her body and checking in her mirror that her makeup was on point .
"Are you new here ?" She asked too sweetly to be true
"Why?" I countered knowing that she hadn't recognized me yet
"Never mind. Thank God that nerd transferred from this school. I hated her guts!" She spat
"Which nerd?" I played fool
"There was a nerd who used to use this locker. She has not come for two days and then you came so I think she transferred schools. But anyway I'm Stevie , the Queen bee of this school. I invite you to join my group and you won't regret it because your stay here will be fine ."
I looked at her and laughed, a deep genuine laugh marching past her to open my locker .
"What are you laughing at?" She asked attempting to grab my hand
"I'm that nerd Stevie and I'm here to steal your dream man!"
She looked me over, up and down until recognition finally dawned on her.
"You hid all this beauty in a nerd's clothing? Something is not right," she finally said
"I never wanted guys like Travis to see me and drool. Ooh and I forgot, have you seen him today? I need him to see me Stevie !"
"He's mine, stay away or else...
"Or else what? You can do nothing . All you do is bark without biting bitch. Are you afraid that he likes me even in my nerdy clothes?"
Apart from Gabriel Scott, Stevie Martins was another person I loved getting annoyed or riled up. It just made me feel pleasure see them breathing fire over something so small.
"Don't say I didn't warn you!" She threatened walking away probably to find another weak student to bully and pour out her anger on. Poor kid, he was gonna find it rough for a mistake not his.
I smiled a victorious smile
"Mission accomplished !" I squealed taking my book and turning around only to bump into a strong wall.
I moved back so that I could take another route before I realized something ... That was not a wall.... It was someone's chest.
"Aargh! Do you put stones on your chest Mr ? And mind standing in the hallways where we pass through ," I snapped.
Raising my eyes to meet the damn guy, I'm left speechless .
I don't know why I always get lost in his eyes. Not that I am complaining but this was weird and I should not fall for a human because of the valid reasons mother said.
I stared at him as he stared back.
"I came to ask you why you have taken Ella's locker but I'm surprised to find it's actually you. And you're so.....
My phone ringtone interrupts him as I take my purse to take it.
His name flashes on my screen and I don't know why I smile.. maybe because I was going to annoy him again.
"I invite you to have dinner with my family. My driver will pick you up at 7:30pm tonight . Get ready !" And then he hang up
