Zuria
One month later

"Nervous?" Mitch asked as he glanced over at me while he drove.

"Yeah." I told a breath, trying to calm my nerves.

Today was our first day and Marley's first day of therapy. Marley was excited about her session because she didn't really know what was going on but I was a nervous wreck.

"You'll be aight." He reassured, grabbing my thigh as I turned my head to look out of the window.

"Daddy, are we almost there?" Marley asked from
the backseat and I couldn't help but to smile as she sat back there excitedly.

She was so ready to talk and play.

"Yeah, babygirl."

"Sit back." He told her and she did as told, kicking her feet.

I kept watching her in the mirror as she did and I smiled, taking her in. I hadn't seen her in months and to finally have her back in my presence felt like everything to me. I felt I now understood in a way why people have children because though they can be a pain, I couldn't imagine not loving her as much as I do.

Whether I'm with her dad or not, the connection I had with her was just different.

"Baby." Mitch tapped me, breaking me away from my thoughts.

"Hm?" I looked over to him and he nodded his head, directing my attention toward the facility.

"We here." He went onto say.

"Okay." I nodded slowly, unbuckling my seatbelt.

Watching as he got Marley out and grabbed her hand, I slowly got out of the car, taking deep breaths with each step.

Calm down, Zuria. I kept thinking to myself.

Everything's going to be alright.

Making my way over to them, Marley let go of Mitch's hand and quickly came over to grab mine. I couldn't help to smile as she clung to me like she used to before all of the drama went down.

Walking hand in hand, we all made our way into the facility together.

"Hello, how can I help you?" A woman asked as Mitch stood at the customer service window while Marley played in the kids area and I sat in the waiting area, trying my hardest to keep it all together.

"I have two sessions scheduled today. One for my daughter and one for me and my.."

"..wife." He ended up saying, turning his to look at me with a toothy smile. I could help but to laugh at his dumb ass as the lady went on.

"Okay. I'm just going to need you to fill out these papers and then return them to me then we can get you started for today." She told him, handing him a clipboard.

"Aight. Thank you." He nodded before making his way back over to me.

I watched as he sat down and began to fill out the papers. It was if he could feel my nervous energy as he grabbed my hand and placed a kiss onto the back of it while still focusing on the papers.

"Relax, ma." He told me as he continued to write things down and I smiled small, nodding my head.

He continued to hold onto my hand as he finished up the papers in no time. When he was finally finished, he returned them to the service desk and the woman explained that it would be ten minutes before we were seen. So now we were just waiting.
