Zuria"Daddy, I want that color." Marley pointed as we walked hand in hand downtown, going to a bunch of different stores for the day.
"Baby, I just bought you damn near every color bow in the store. Now you want another color?" He asked obviously fed up as he held a bunch of bags in his hands and I smiled small, watching as he spoiled her.
"Yes, daddy." She smiled politely, holding onto my hand tight.
"Aight, babygirl." He gave in, like I knew he would and he sat all the bags back down before going back into the Disney stores to get her what she wanted.
As he did, Marley and I sat outside on the bench, watching the many bags we had. I watched her out of the corner of my eye as she kicked her feet happily and I could do nothing but smile.
I could only imagine what Mitch and I's baby was going to be like but I hoped she or he was just like Marley. Sweet and happy all the time, no matter what.
I just wanted my baby to be happy.
"Zuri, do you still love daddy?" She ended blurting out, completely throwing me off.
"Hm? Do I love your dad?" I asked and she nodded slowly, looking at me with her little eyes.
"Yeah because last time you left and I thought it was because you didn't love us anymore." She surprisingly vocalized and it broke my heart to pieces.
"Marley-" I started but stopped as she poked her lips out, obviously about to cry.
Saying nothing else, I grabbed her and pulled her into my lap.
"Look at me, pretty girl." I said to her as she looked up into my eyes and I smiled at her.
"You and your dad, I love the both of you, so so much." I expressed to her as a smile fell upon her face.
"And no matter what your dad and I go through, you will always be my baby. Okay?"
"I can be your baby?" She asked as I poked my lips out, trying not to cry.
"Yes, Mars. You can be my baby and then when the other-" I started but stopped, not sure if I should tell her yet.
"Yes, Mars." I nodded slowly.
"You will always be my baby, okay?" I asked her as she smiled wide, leaning in to hug me tightly.
As she did, Mitch came out of the store, smiling while he watched us.
"Daddy, I'm Zuria's baby." She spoke excitedly as she pushed herself off of the bench, running over to him.
"Oh yeah?" He asked, picking her up before he began to grab all of the bags.
"Yeah." Marley spoke excitedly as Mitch and I looked at each other.
"Well Zuria my baby." He went onto tell her as we began to walk again, making our way to the next store for the day.
"And guess what else?" He said to her.
"What?" She smiled, wrapping her arms around his neck.
"Me and Zuria gon' have a baby and you gon' have a baby sister or brother." He went onto say and I gasped, hitting him.
"What?" He asked, looking at me confused.
"What I do?" He asked as Marley poked her lips out, hearing those words.
"That, dummy. You can't just say that to her." I expressed as she squirmed out of his arms, moving away from him and coming over to me.
"Babygirl." He called as she now held my hand, turning her body away from him while he tried to grab her again.
"Mars, it's okay." I expressed as we stopped walking completely and Mitch squatted down, coming eye level with her.
"I don't want a baby, daddy." She spoke sadly and I could help but to chuckle as Mitch did the same, looking from me to her.
"Babygirl, Zuria is going to have a baby but you're going to be a big sister." He went onto explain, since it was already out there now.
"But I don't want to be a big sister." She expressed and I can't lie, it hurt me to hear her say that.
I was hoping she would love her baby brother or sister but I should've known it would never be that easy. Especially with a six year old who was spoiled rotten by her daddy.
"Why you don't want to be a big sister?" Mitch asked her as I listened closely to her answer, just trying to understand her.
"I want to be your baby and Zuri said I'm her baby so I don't want a baby." She explained in the best way she knew how. I couldn't help but to smile, squatting down low as well as I looked from Mitch to her.
"But I just told you, you'll always be my baby, Mars. The new baby will just be our baby too and you have to be the best big sister because he or she is going to need you."
"Need me?" She asked, pointing to herself and both Mitch and I nodded.
"Yup. They're going to need you and you have to be there for them because you're the big sister. You're the boss. You can't ever let any one hurt them or be mean to them. You have to love them with all your heart."
"And they're gon' love you with all their heart too." Mitch expressed as she smiled small, looking at the both of us.
"Well when will the baby be here? I want to see them, do they look like me?" She asked, genuinely concerned and I couldn't help but to smile, looking at Mitch.
"Yeah, they gon' look just like you because you look just like your pops." He went onto say slickly and I shook my head as we both stood to our feet, grabbing her hand again before we began walking.
"Okay." She spoke excitedly as she smiled wide.
"I can't wait to meet the baby." Was all she said as Mitch and I smiled at each other.
"I can't either." He went onto say, leaning over to kiss my cheek.
