“Welcome home honey”
With the best lawyer in the country as your wife and the best gang behind you, what were the chances of Lwando staying in prison really?
He kissed the side of my head “Thank you Majola”
I removed his arm around my neck and he followed behind me “I want the truth!” I demanded
“Majola I swear to God I did not do anything this time around.” He argued and then led me to the couch “Those are old crimes and they had no proof of what they were arresting me for. Everything got destroyed with our old house. That cop has always had it in for me” I sighed and ran his hands over his face “I swear I have no business with The $pritz anymore Ayola, I would never risk your lives like that again” he pleaded
I took a deep breath “for your sake I hope so Lwando” I said getting up
He pulled me to sit on his lap “Thank you for what you did back there” he said kissing my cheek
“whatever. Let go of me, I wanna go check on our kids” I said wiggling out of his arms
He tightened his grip “just two minutes Mrs me” he said kissing my neck
I pushed him off of me “I miss my babies and one of them is hungry so please”
He let go of me “fine”
I stood up went to find their nanny. She was feeding Thando while Oku sat beside and told shared some gossip, my daughter was a chatterbox sometimes it was even annoying but in a cute way.
“Oku” I said walking in
She turned and ran into my arms “Mommy” she wrapped her arms around my legs “Wheres daddy?” she asked
I picked her up “daddy is downstairs. So what were you telling Nono about?”
She shrugged “school. Granny said she was coming”
“which granny?”
“Hlahla” she said
I chuckled, that’s what she called Lwando’s mother “ok baby, go find daddy” I said putting her down, she ran out “is he sleeping?”
Nono nodded “yes Ma’am he just fell asleep. He was a little restless”
I sighed “ok thanks Nono, you can put him in his cot. I will take it from here” I said walking over
Nono walked out and left me with Thando who was sucking on his fist sleeping peacefully.
“knock knock” a voice said behind me. I turned and it was Hlahla “hello”
I placed my finger on my lip and whispered “he just fell asleep”
She nodded “ok” I walked to her and we shared a hug “I missed you child” she said
I walked out with her “I missed you too Mah. How’s dad?”
She chuckled “I actually dragged him along this time around”
I raised an eyebrow “and he came?”
She shot me a look “I’m his wife. He had to come, speaking of which we need to go down before they kill each other”
I chuckled “and they just might ey”
We walked down the stairs and we found my father in law with his granddaughter on his lap and Lwando watching tv laying on the couch with his one hand behind his head
“dad” I greeted
He shook my hand “hello Koti, how are you?”
I nodded “good dad and how are you?”
“very good Koti. Wheres Thando?” he asked
I sighed “he was recently put to sleep, I’m sorry. Can I get you anything to eat maybe?”
“nothing much Majola, a sandwich will do”
“what about you Mah?” I asked
“nothing for me Koti” she said siting next to her husband
I made my way to the kitchen and texted my husband to come join me. He walked in after a while
“Majola” he said
“the least you could do is make some conversation with your dad” I said with a straight face
He breathed out “this is why you called me?”
I shot him a stern look and he rolled his eyes at me “Lwando he’s your father”
“one who never tried to be in my life for as long as I can remember” he argued
I aighed and walked over to him “do this for your daughter” I said wrapping my arms around his waist “Please Hubby” I pleaded
He huffed “remove your hands from my ass Majola” he said with a smirk
I giggled “not until you tell me that you going to go back in there and try get along with your father”
“Majola remove your hands from my ass before you make me hard” he said firmly
I chuckled and removed my hands “We don’t want that”
He chuckled and followed behind me to the sink “no we don’t” he said squeezing my ass
“Lwando” I smacked his hand “GO!” I scolded
He chuckled and walked out leaving me laughing. I made everyone something to eat and then took it to the lounge.
Its funny how i went from your typical, well not quite typical but you get my point I hope, slay queen sorta to this wife type of person. So much respect, so submissive and just a good wife to my husband.
Mamu’Gloria taught me a lot, she and my grandmother are the reason I became the wife I am to Lwando, they taught me everything I needed to know about being humbled and respectful to my elders and I’m proud to say I never lost it along the way. Now my parents played a role in shaping me into the person I am but their impact on me as a person was not as much as Mamu’Gloria and my grandmother. And then there was my mother in law, she was so graceful and so loving and just everything about her was beautiful and effortless. I always thanked God for giving me her because then I wouldn’t be the person I am, I wouldn’t be so spiritual as I was.
“thank you Majola” my father in law said as I placed the tray in front of him
I smiled “my pleasure dad” I said sitting next to my husband
“Oku go play with Nono for a few minutes” Hlahla said
I knew they were about to get serious
“but Hlahla” she argued
“honey come on, the grown ups need to talk” Lwando begged her
She huffed “fine” she walked out sulking. I chuckled
Drama queen
“Theres no easier way to say this” Mr Ndila broke out “I have Angina, it’s a coronary heart disease whereby not enough oxygen rich blood is flowing to an area of my heart muscles because one of the heart arteries is too narrow”
I clasped my mouth in shock “how long dad?”
He sighed “I’ve been living with it for over 25 years now” Lwando squeezed my hand “I went for a test a few days back and my doctor told me I was getting worse and theres no cure”
I shook my head “what about pills?”
He shrugged “I’ve been taking them accordingly and living on a diet but nothing’s worked out Majola. I’m dying”
“cant you get a heart transplant or something?” Lwando finally exclaimed
His father shook his head “I have been on the donor list for over a year now and I haven’t had a match”
The room went dead silent. I looked at Lwando and he was really tense, who could blame him?
“good luck with finding a heart” Lwando said getting up from the couch
“honey sit down” I said pulling his hand
He shook his head “you had to be dying for you to reach out to the son you spent your whole life resenting for a mental illness he did not even ask for. I needed my father so many times but you were never there, you were too busy fathering everyone at the church except me so I’m sorry you dying or whatever but I cant sit and listen to this” he said pulling his arm away from me
“Lwando!” I yelled but he walked out. I stood up
“Let him be Koti” my mother in law said
I shook my head “no mom I cant. He is my husband and he needs me”
She shook her head “sit down Ayola, Lwando will be fine”
I stood there and chuckled in disbelief “I knew about you guys before I even met you. I used to ask myself what kind of parents would disown their child because of a mental illness he didn’t ask for, I was even shocked to learn that you two were pastors and you had your own church. I used to hope I never meet you guys because then I wouldn’t be able to hold back what I felt I needed to say to you guys” I shook my head as my mother in law was about to speak “You may think you didn’t do anything but that was your problem Mrs Ndila, you didn’t do anything. Your husband sent your son off and you didn’t do anything about it, you didn’t fight enough and when that incident occurred with that girl you still distanced yourself from him when he needed his family’s support. Lwando did not choose to be Bipolar, he did not ask for any of this and for you guys to treat him the way you did is wrong. Even now that he has a family you only built a relationship with me and not your son. I don’t you Mr Ndila, your son does” I took a deep breath in about to continue but just stopped myself and ran after my husband.
I’ve always wanted to give them a piece of my mind but mom told me I entered nowhere, mom always told me that it was not any of my business and that I should let them deal with their own problems but the day I said I do to Lwando meant that their family problems became mine.
I found him sitting outside on the floor of our balcony, I kneeled in front of him and leaned my head against his forehead “hey”
“am I wrong for storming out? am I wrong for hurting even after living my whole life without them? Please tell me I’m wrong Majola” he said with tears rolling down his cheeks
I shook my head “you not wrong. He’s your father, you’re allowed to hurt”
He took a deep breath “I don’t hate him Ayola, I hate his actions towards me. Everytime I passed I’d send my results to him and he wouldn’t even tell me he was proud, it was like nothing I ever did was ever enough to get his approval. Its funny though because I thought I didn’t care about it”
I cupped his face “you only human Lwando. We always want our parents approval and its painful when we don’t get it”
He huffed “I cant let him die Ayola, he’s my father” he said
