"If Allah guides you to remember Him, its a sign that Allah loves you." -Tirmidhi
It was the preliminary selection round for national cricket team today and Zeeshan couldn't sleep all night. He was excited, nervous and happy. Happy because he was at least getting a chance to participate in the selection round and he couldn't help but thank Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala for this opportunity. He knew, by Allah he knew, that there were far better players than him who couldn't get this far due to some or the other reason and he was blessed to have this chance to showcase his talent.
He reached the stadium only to be greeted by Hassan, who had told him that he wouldn't be able to make it to the stadium.
"You lied" Zeeshan stated with a big smile. He was happy to see his best friend who had come to support him and hugged him instantly.
"Woah! What's gotten into you? And did you really bought my lame reason and thought that I wouldn't be here?" Hassan backed away from the hug feigning heart but had a mischievous smile on his face. Their banter continued for another minute when Hassan reminded him to be on the field. After two hours the players were done showcasing their talent and were told that they will be given a call for the result after few days.
Zeeshan had played impressively good and Hassan was all praises for him. He prayed to his Rabb that he gets selected, as he didn't wanted to be a bother for his parents anymore. They both went for lunch together and had a hearty meal. As they were chatting away, Zeeshan saw a familiar face entering and did a double check to confirm the identity. She was looking different from the last time he saw her. She looked even more beautiful, a relaxed expression settled on her face and she seemed like she had all the time in the world unlike the last two times where she had only had one thing on her mind, to run. The first thing he could figure out was that she was hungry. A lot.
His trance was broken as a waving hand came in his view and he looked at a perplexed Hassan. He was then met with a raised brow and a sudden turn of Hassan's head made him groan, for then he met with an amused expression of his friend.
He will tease the hell out of him.
"Oh shut up" Zeeshan exclaimed before even Hassan could open his mouth. He just shrugged.
"I didn't say anything" he resumed eating his ice cream. "Btw what's her name?" he suddenly asked and was met with a napkin on his face.
"Its nothing like that. I just happened to see her twice" Zeeshan slowly said with a shrug and heard an immediate reply, "Whatever sails your boat dude".
Zeeshan could feel the smirk in his reply and before backing his friend's reply with a comeback, his eyes fell on her and he stopped. It was back. That expression which he had seen previously was settled on her face. He followed her gaze towards the television where news was flashing,
'...was arrested yesterday midnight from his hideout. The police are searching for other people who were working with him, and are claiming that they won't be hiding away for long...'
He saw her relax again and resume her lunch. This particular analysis gave him the information that her running had something to do with the arrest of this particular politician, who had been creating havoc on the land with his unfulfilled promises and never-ending corruption.
"I'll be back" announcing this, Zeeshan walked towards the girl leaving Hassan with a bewildered expression.
He stopped in front of her and waited for her to acknowledge him. Sensing some presence near her she looked above, startled, her cheeks puffing out with all the food inside and Zeeshan couldn't help but let out a small chuckle. Her face calmed upon recognizing him and she quickly gulped down the food in a go which resulted in her choking. Quick in his manners, he filled the glass of water and handed her which she drank hungrily.
