Yoon Haera's relationship with her boyfriend was everything to her. So when he suddenly breaks up with her, her world comes crashing down. Not to mention she's left with no date to her distant sister's wedding. So her sister calls upon the groom's b...
As soon as I step out of the car, Taeyong is already ruffling my hair and ruining the look I spent an hour working on.
"This took forever, I'm not going to redo my hair. I hope you're proud of yourself, Tae. I'm going to look ugly for the rest of the day," I mutter to Taeyong bitterly while giving him dirty looks.
"Really? I think you might want to change your mind about that, because I invited Lucas to hang out with us today. Surprise!" Taeyong laughs and walks into the ice cream shop, leaving me to fix my hair as fast as a possible and a string of curse words with every tangle in my hair that I try to get past.
Taeyong invited me to get ice cream with him and I agreed, thinking that it would be some nice sibling-in-law bonding. However, it seems like he has other plans.
We're greeted by Lucas' usual lopsided grin as he waves us over to his table. "I've never tried their ice cream before, this is going to be exciting," he says, smiling widely like a little kid. I've never seen this side of him before, it's crazy how I'm only getting this chance to witness it thanks to ice cream.
"Alright kids, you go ahead, I need to make call first. Go get whatever you want," Taeyong says and shoos us away to choose our flavours.
"If you say so." Lucas grabs my arm and pulls me over to the counter gently, putting a finger to his chin as he decides what to get. "I think I want to try the cotton candy one and the matcha one. What are you getting, princess?"
I take a quick glance over the different tubs of ice cream and decide on my usual. "Clearly the superior flavour, vanilla."
Lucas immediately scrunches his nose in disgust at my reply. "Vanilla? That's so boring."
I merely shrug and give our orders to the cashier. As I dig around in my wallet, Lucas stops me and offers to pay. I reject his offer and hand the cashier a $10 bill.
"I could have paid for us," he pouts cutely, which makes my heart flip inside my chest. I'm really seeing a lot of adorable Lucas today, but I'm not complaining.
"Don't worry about it, today's my treat but you can buy me coffee another time. As long as it's not wasabi mixed with water again," I send him back to the table with our ice creams and turn back to the cashier to accept my change.
She smirks slightly while handing me the change, "You guys make a really cute couple."
"Thanks, but we're not actually dating. It's sort of complicated."
"Really?" She gives me a knowing look and places her hand on my shoulder, "Don't worry dear, I'm sure it'll work out in the end. From what I can see, he likes you a lot so don't lose him."
And I won't deny that it made my heart jump a little.
When I return to the table, Taeyong peers into both our cups and groans at the sight of my choice of flavour, "Vanilla? Really, Haera?"
"What is with everyone hating on vanilla today? Sorry but you peasants wouldn't be able understand that vanilla is a classic," I huff, while they howl with laughter in front of me.
Lucas points to the swirl of colours in his cup. "I think this can change your mind, try some." He gets a scoop of ice cream and I take a bite from his spoon, almost spitting it out immediately after.
"Are you kidding me, that tastes like unicorn poop," I say in disbelief. How Lucas can eat it without barfing is beyond me.
Lucas laughs loudly and attempts to feed me another scoop, before stopping to give me a smirk, "Hey, did you realize that we just kissed indirectly?"
I roll my eyes dramatically and point at him with my spoon. "You're so childish, Lucas. What, do you want me to feed you my ice cream as well?"
"If you wanted a proper kiss, you could have just asked me, Haera," Lucas says before Taeyong slaps his hand over his mouth.
"And this is where I'm going to stop you," he rolls his eyes at us and sighs, "Gosh, now I know how you feel when you accompany me and Sera on dates, Haera. Watching you guys flirt like this is ridiculous."
"There's a taste of your own medicine, I guess," I retort back and stick out my tongue at him.
Lucas chuckles and drops his arm around my shoulder. "So you're admitting to flirting with me? How bold of you, princess..."
I shove him away from me and return to my conversation with Taeyong, Lucas pouting at the side.
