Still 3 weeks to the wedding
"Hey, sorry I abandoned you at the party yesterday. I got too wasted so Mark had to drive me home," Dami greets me with an apology as soon as I slide into the passenger seat of her car.
I wave her apology away. "It's no biggie, Lucas drove me home anyway."
Suddenly, Dami stares at me and examines my face closely. "Well, you look really happy today. That smile on your face is almost creepy. Care to tell me what happened last night?" Then it seems like the realization dawns upon her because her eyes widen and she covers her mouth in shock, "Wait, did you guys kiss?"
When I respond with only a cheeky smile, Dami gasps and smacks the table repeatedly. "No way! Who started it? We love a girl who initiates but if you didn't that's cool too," she says, staring at me expectantly.
"Well, no one really initiated it, we just kind of...met halfway?" I say, picturing the kiss fresh in my mind.
"Aww, that's so cute. And was he a good kisser? Wait, never mind. If he's not, I don't want to know. All that matters is you're happy." Dami starts to ramble on in excitement.
I roll my eyes at her, but inside, I'm just as giddy as she is, if not more. It was almost like a scene from a movie that I can never get out of my head.
"Yeah, I'm really happy about this. And, if you really must know, he's a pretty good kisser," I smirk at her [A/N: Cue the Debby Ryan smirk], watching her mouth drop open and her hand instantly fanning herself.
"So...does this mean you're officially over Johnny?"
I nod slightly. "Yeah, I think so. In fact, I was probably over him a long time ago. You know, when Lucas came into the picture."
Dami squeals and clasps my hands tightly in hers. "Yes! Finally, LuRa is sailing!"
I shake my head at her, still smiling helplessly. "I'm not even going to ask about that ship name."
"Wait, I have a question," Dami pauses her squealing momentarily and gets serious. "What will Sera think of this?"
That's true. I was so caught up in my love life finally taking off again that I forgot my promise to Sera that I wasn't going to fall in love with Lucas. I mean, technically, if I were going to admit, I fell in love with him quite a while ago. But...we were never a thing. What's Sera going to say about this now?
"You know what, Haera? Forget I even said anything, you'll cross the bridge when you get there. For now, let's just focus on the fact that you and Lucas are dating...you are officially together, right?" Dami asks hesitantly.
I freeze. "Uhh, I mean, none of us actually said anything so I don't...know?" I say, genuinely confused about our relationship as well.
"Welp, girl, you've got to figure it out soon because I'm pretty sure there's some LuRa shippers out there who are on the edge of their seats waiting for you guys to get together," Dami says nonchalantly, either oblivious to or just completely ignoring the confused look on my face.
She pulls up at the mall's parking lot and I instantly unbuckle my seat and get out of the car because I am LATE FOR MY COFFEE DATE WITH JOHNNY. Great impression, Haera. Now he might think you stood him up. "Thanks for the ride, Dami. I'll see you at school tomorrow!"
"You better figure out your relationship status before we see each other again!" Dami yells out to me as I rush out of there to avoid the confused stares from the people around us.

Johnny's already seated down and waiting for me when I finally arrive at Starbucks.
"Over here!" He waves at me with the exact same grin he always had back when we were together. Come to think of it, it's been a while since I've seen him smile properly.
I plop down onto the seat opposite Johnny with a smile and he slides a Chocolate Chip Frappé my way. "How did you know I would order this?"
He shrugs his shoulders with a playful grin on his face. "Just a lucky guess." Then, his smile falls and his lips form a thin, straight line.
"I think it's about time a proper apology is due," Johnny says seriously, shushing me when I try to tell him that it's fine. "The reason why I broke up with you, to be honest, is because I'm scared."
"You're...scared? Of what?" I ask, completely confused as to what he could have possibly been afraid of in such a stable relationship such as ours at the time.
"Of the commitment. Hear me out, I know we dated for three whole years and after we broke up, I just felt so guilty for throwing that all away. Our relationship started to get strained and it's my fault. I was the one who distances myself because I couldn't handle my fear of commitment. You deserved a lot more than what I could offer you, Haera."
I originally thought Johnny broke up with me because he was tired of me, because he didn't want me to weigh him down. After all, that's what he said at the party after we broke up. But hearing this now, it makes sense. I won't deny that the combined effect of the constant squabbles we had and the pressure to maintain our "perfect couple" image for the school to see definitely weighed both of us down. But I guess he broke under the pressure. I don't blame him, though.
"I completely understand, and thanks for explaining it to me, though a little late because I've...moved on."
Johnny smiles knowingly and nods. "I saw you and Lucas at the party yesterday. I wasn't sure if he was a good guy for you at first, considering that he was kind of a player, but I've seen the way he treats you and...it's different. He looks at you so lovingly that it makes me relieved honestly."
My cheeks turn the slightest tinge of pink upon hearing that and it definitely warms my heart to know that Lucas likes me as much as I like him.
"Thanks Johnny. I hope you know that you're still one of my best friends and I'm always here for you," I say to him and his eyes crinkle as he smiles, genuinely smiles.
"Same for you, Haera."
Oooh we're getting real close to the wedding day👀
