6 days to the wedding
"Honestly, it was nice that they kept calling at first because it showed they cared. But now? It feels like my ears are bleeding from the constant ringing. Please, for the sake of my sanity, make it stop!" Dami yells from the bathroom after my phone rings for the tenth time today.
It's been a few days since I last left home to stay at Dami's. Thank goodness Dami's parents are fine with me staying here because I have been freeloading off of them for the past three days. I went back home every once in a while just to check in with Mom and to get some extra clothes but I always made sure to come when Sera wasn't around. Somehow I still don't feel ready to have a conversation with her, but I'm probably going to have to at some point.
"Hey, I'm leaving now, are you sure you want to skip again? There's a lot to catch up on and we have finals coming up ," Dami says worriedly, shaking my Math textbook in front of me.
I wave a hand lazily at her and slump back onto the air mattress next to Dami's bed. "One more day. Then I'll go back tomorrow. I'll even study extra hard today, don't worry about me."
Dami heaves and exasperated sigh and sets the textbook down on the table, "Alright, but you better come to school tomorrow. I'm getting real lonely by myself, you know."
"Shut up, I know you're enjoying your alone time with Mark," I tease Dami, who tucks a strand of hair behind her ear shyly.
"Whatever. I'll see you later, okay? Mom and Dad are working late today as usual so you have to whole house to yourself again," Dami says, grabbing her bag and waving me goodbye.

My phone hasn't rang since morning. This is the first time since I left home that my phone has been quiet and I'm honestly a little concerned. But I should really take the opportunity to enjoy the peace and quiet, I haven't been in the right mental state to think about everything that's happened yet.
I pick up my phone and switch it on just so I can stare at the picture on my lock screen.
"I still can't believe you used me to get to my sister..." I mumble to the photo softly, "...but what did I expect from a playboy?"
A small tear escapes my eye and drops down onto my phone, just as it switches off. I guess, it wasn't meant to be after all.
Haera, can I talk to you? Please!
I can still hear Lucas yelling in my head and I don't want to shut him out. I really don't.
Haera! Are you there?
Okay, now that's a little weird...
Can you please come outside for just a second so we can talk?
I open the curtains to peer out of the window and there he is. It's really him.
Lucas stares at the front door for a moment longer and when no reply comes, his head droops and he drags his feet on the pavement as he walks away.
"Wait!"
Lucas immediately turns back at the sound of my voice and looks around the house frantically before his eyes land on me. His eyes widen when he sees me. Not going to lie, I surprised myself too. I didn't think I would actually call out to him like that, but now that I did, I can't exactly leave him hanging.
Once I open the front door, I see Lucas raking a hand through his hair before he notices me. It's awkward, this is so awkward. Neither of us know what to say, so we just stare at each other for a minute. And in that minute, I realize how much I miss him, how much I want to comb my hands through his hair, how much I want to intertwine my fingers through his. But I can't.
"So?" My voice comes out sharper than I expected. Lucas seems just as surprised as I am.
He looks down at the ground for a second, as if trying to gather his thoughts, then he lifts his head up and our eyes meet.
"I just want to clear everything up. It's all a misunderstanding. Whatever you heard from Sera? It's—"
"How do you know what Sera said?"
"We-we met up and she told me what happened. We cleared up all the misunderstandings though so let me explain everything to you. Please."
I stare into his eyes and I can't see the desperation. Maybe he's right, maybe it's just a misunderstanding.
No, no. Haera, you will not fall for this again. Don't let him fool you.
"It's all a lie, none of it is true. Okay, maybe it's partially true—"
"How can I trust anything you say, Lucas?"
That's when he goes completely silent and simply stares at me while biting his lip.
"You were using me, to get close to my sister!" I go on, the rage and frustration building up as I continue, "I really liked you. I really really liked you. But...honestly, I should have known better."
"Haera, listen to me. I'm—"
"I don't want to hear it. I don't want to hear any of your excuses. I can't believe I actually thought a dirty player like you would like me."
Lucas' eyes widen at my last sentence and his fists curl up. His mouth opens slightly, as if he wants to say something, but his shoulders droop and he walks away.
Then, he stops. He turns back to give me one last look and I finally notice how tired he looks. There are dark circles under his eyes and his once full, red cheeks are replaced by just pale cheekbones. But the most noticeable part is his eyes, brimming with tears. I've never seen this side of him, and I wish I never had.
Then he leaves. For good.
I just realised Haera interrupted Lucas at least 3 times in this chapter, girl just let him finish his sentence
