Here I am, on a nice Sunday morning, not in bed. Why, you ask? Because Dami decided to pull me out of my very much needed sleep and take me shopping.
"I don't understand why you couldn't wait, like, three more hours to wake me up." I groan and hoist my purse higher up my shoulder.
"Well, for starters, I have a date later and—"
"Hold up, sister." I cut her off, "You have a date later and you didn't tell me? What happened to our unspoken rule?"
She gives me a look, "What rule?"
"The one that says we tell each other every detail of our love life."
"You've never said anything about this rule before."
"Because it's unspoken, duh."
"Whatever, now you know. Help me decide between these two." Dami passes me a two skirts which look almost identical, may I add, but I grab anyway and start to inspect.
While I'm searching for the differences in the two skirts, Dami glances out of the store and gasps. She begins turns back almost immediately and snatches the skirts out of my hands before I even have the chance to ask her what's going on. She carefully puts them back on the rack and slowly nudges me out of the store.
"You know what, Haera? Those don't really fit my taste, let's try another mall," she rambles on. And that's how I know something is seriously wrong because A) She loves this mall, it has all her favourite stores and B) her reaction to whatever was out there was not normal.
"Hey, what's up? You're acting super suspicious." I ask cautiously, not really sure if I want to know or not. Whenever Dami gets jittery, it's usually because of something she's hiding from me, but I always figure it out because she's basically an open book.
"Spill it. You already know I'm going to find out either way so you might as well save us the hassle and just tell me." I huff.
Dami finally relents and spins me around to see Johnny walking into Starbucks with what seems to be his new girlfriend, which I can guess because of their blatant PDA. I feel a sharp pain in my chest and storm off in the opposite direction while Dami runs after me.
We just broke up because he "doesn't want to be tied down" and now he has a new girlfriend. Was I that easy to replace?
My footsteps get faster until I can no longer hear Dami yelling after me. I slump onto a bench in the park and I feel my feet go numb from tight flats I decided to wear today. Hot tears spill down my cheeks and I bury my face into my hands because people are staring at this random girl who just started crying out of nowhere.
"I didn't expect to see you here." I hear a voice mutter above me.
Lucas plops down beside me with his hands in his pocket and just sits there quietly. I ignore his presence but I can't stand the silence after a few moments so I speak up.
"Why do we always have to meet when I'm crying?" I ask and finally look up from the ground.
Lucas shrugs, "You tell me, princess."
We sit down and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere for a while more until I finally break the silence. "I saw him again. With his new girlfriend."
Lucas glances at me in surprise for a second then looks back up at the sky. "Wow, must be hard, huh? Seeing him with some other girl?"
"He said he didn't want to be tied down, but why is he with another girl now?" I sigh quietly and shut my eyes, "Maybe I wasn't good enough for him."
"Hey, don't say that. I may not know you that well, but you seem like a good person. And you don't need an ass like him." Lucas says pats my shoulder and his touch gives me a warm feeling.
Suddenly, he clears his throat and pulls his hand away. "So yeah, don't cry about that guy anymore, okay? You can do way better."
"Yeah, thanks for that, Lucas. I have to get going, Dami is probably looking for me. See you around." I wave to him before walking off to where I last saw Dami.
