3 days to the wedding
Sera's POV
'Hey, can we talk?' My heart stops when I see the message.
This is the first thing Taeyong's said to me since the fight. I don't blame him, I really messed up. Big time.
I should go see him. But the sinking feeling in my chest won't even let me reply with a simple 'okay' to his text. For all I know, this could be the last text he sends me.
"Sera? I have to tell you something, sweetheart," Mom's head peaks out of the doorway, "Haera came back home yesterday. I think you should go talk to her soon."
My eyes widen at the mention of Haera's name. "She's back? Where is she?"
"She's out right now, but she'll be back later. I think she's having a rough time with that boyfriend of hers though, so maybe it's best to give her some time first. Such a shame, Lucas was a really sweet boy," Mom mumbles the last part, making my heart clench up. She doesn't know yet. She doesn't know that I'm the one who ruined Haera's relationship and she doesn't know that the wedding might be cancelled.
I feel so guilty for keeping all of this from her, but if I do, she'd want to step in. But I think this time, I should fix this by myself.
After a quick pep talk, I grab my phone and text a quick 'Yeah, I'll see you at the place in fifteen minutes' to Taeyong before heading out.
~
I reach the place a lot earlier than I expected so I have time to take in the sight for the millionth time. Before me stands a tiny cavern hidden behind overgrown vines and moss. This is where Taeyong asked me out for the first time.
"Tae, where are we going?" I ask Taeyong wearily as we trudge through the sandy beach to a hidden area at the side.
"Don't be scared, we're almost there. Be careful here," Taeyong says, extending a hand for me to take. I grab his hand cautiously, my cheeks overheating as he intertwines his fingers with mine and carefully leads me through the vines.
Past the vines, it's a small cavern that you wouldn't pay much attention to. But turn to your right and it's the most beautiful view of the sunset you'll ever see in your life.
"This is it, we're right on time," Taeyong says, fumbling around with his hands and taking a deep breath.
Taeyong scratches his head awkwardly, his eyes looking everywhere but mine. "Umm Sera, I just wanted to say I really really like you. Will you be my girlfriend?" he asks, his eyes finally landing on mine.
After a moment of silence, I engulf him in a hug. "Of course, you dummy. I like you too."
We stay in our position for forty-three seconds—I counted—before Taeyong breaks the hug. "I'm going to stay with you forever, you know that right? You can't get rid of me," he says, taking my hand once again.
And ever since then, this has been our favourite place. Taeyong even proposed to me here. This place holds a lot of memories, I would hate to let it all go.
"Sera."
I whip my head around to see Taeyong standing there, his hands dug into his pockets.
"Sera, I—"
"Tae—"
Both of us snap our mouths shut and we look to the ground. After a moment, Taeyong finally speaks up, "Do you want to see the sunset?"
I nod slowly and he offers a hand for me to take. I accept it gratefully and he leads me to a smooth rock for us to sit on and stare at the ocean view, just as the sun begins to set.
"Do you want to go first?" Taeyong asks, breaking the silence.
I heave a sigh and nod. "I just want to apologize first. You were right, I was being paranoid and self-centered and—" my breath hitches in my throat, the tears threatening to spill out any second now, "I understand if you want to call off the wedding."
Taeyong jumps up and stares at me as if I just killed someone. "What? Sera, are you crazy? Why would I call off the wedding?"
I will admit, I am extremely relieved to hear that.
"I don't know, I just thought you might hate me or something..." I mumble softly.
Taeyong cups his warm hands around my cheeks, forcing me to look him in the eyes. "Do you remember what I said to you when I asked you out? I said I'm going to stay with you forever, you can't get rid of me."
And that's all it takes to get the tears to spill out.
"Hey, hey, don't cry," Taeyong blots my tears with his thumb and tucks a strand of hair behind my ears, "I was thinking about our fight, and at that time, I was so mad. But you know, I could never hate you. I love you too much."
"I love you too, you have know idea how relieved I am that you said that," I breathe a sigh of relief, "But what did you want to say to me?"
"Well, I talked to Lucas. And it seemed like you realized your mistake, so I wanted to come and make up with you. Then we can fix this together."
Words can't express how grateful I am that I have him.
"So...the wedding's still on?" I ask excitedly.
Taeyong nods. "But first we have to clean up your mess."
