My jaw went slack the moment Dami and Mark walked through the doors. Mostly due to their intertwined fingers and rosy cheeks as they strolled over to me and Lucas.
"Ooh, Mark Lee! I'm surprised that you actually did it, I thought we'd have to wait another month at least." Lucas grins and fist-bumps Mark, forcing Mark to let go of Dami's hand to return the fist-bump which causes the corner of Dami's lips to turn downwards just the slightest bit. Mark grabs her hand again and her mouth returns to its original love-struck smile.
"Sorry about this, Mark, but I'm going to have to pry your girlfriend away for a while. Don't worry though, you'll have her back by lunch," I say pulling Dami by the arm, she resists a Little initially but eventually parts with him reluctantly.
Dami rolls her eyes at me and gives me a playful push. "Did you really have to separate us the second we enter school? I was kind of hoping he'd walk me to class."
"Oops, sorry about that. But I'm dying to hear the details." I turn back to check if Mark and Lucas are close behind us. "Did you guys kiss already?"
Judging from Dami's pink cheeks and bashful smile, I already have my answer.
"No way, I can't believe Mark moved that fast. He's like my little brother so it's hard to imagine this."
"Ew, don't refer to him as your little brother. I would never date my best friend's little bro." She cringes at the thought but goes back to the topic at hand. "And yeah, I was pretty surprised too because it seems like he's got experience."
"Okay, I'm going to stop you there. I don't think I want to hear to many details about that." I stick my tongue out at her and she slaps my shoulder in return.
"Anyway, Haera, how's it going with Mr. Fake Boyfriend back there. It seems like you hang out more with him than you do with me these days."
"I would never, we just seem to bump into each other a lot," I respond nonchalantly.
"Sure, you carry on saying that as if you guys don't text each other every five seconds. Sickening."
"This is coming from the girl that came walking up to me with a stupidly in love smile on her face."
Dami shrugs and pats me on the back, "Just saying though, if you really like him, you don't have to play pretend."
I furrow my eyebrows at her. "I don't like him in that way. Besides, I can't-"
"Come on, Haera. I know, you promised but your sister but you have your own life." She stops walking and turns to face me. "And let's be honest, is 'not wanting you to get hurt' a proper reason to control your love life? I was a little wary at first but from what I've seen, Lucas is a good guy. What other plausible reason does she have for disliking him?"
"I mean, Lucas does have a few fangirls here and there, it's reasonable for her to be concerned," I attempt to convince Dami — and myself — that Sera has her own reasons.
Dami raises an eyebrow. "Even Taeyong said he's a good guy. Her own husband ships you two but somehow she's still adamant about keeping you guys as just friends?"
I shake my head and wave her away. "It doesn't matter. We haven't had a decent conversation in years. This could be my only chance to fix our relationship, I'm not going to blow it just because of a guy. I don't even know if I like him like that."
Dami gives me a pitiful smile but changes the topic so quickly it's like we never even discussed it.
But I won't lie, I'm starting to question why Sera's so against Lucas too.
So I switched to dark mode on my phone and omg this is so weird even wattpad is dark now but I kinda like it ngl
