1 month and 1 week to the wedding

"Look who's coming to me for girl advice," I say with a slight smile, "It used to be me asking you for help with Johnny. How the tables have turned, huh Mark?"

Standing in front of me is Mark, Dami's soon to be boyfriend, because he just came up to me to ask me for advice on how to ask Dami to be his girlfriend. Officially.

"Sorry, our first real conversation after...your breakup had to be like this. I actually missed talking to you, you know. I just felt like it might have been awkward for you," Mark says apologetically, scratching his head.

I shake my head. "Just because things are weird between me and Johnny doesn't mean that it's the same for you and me, Mark."

He grins brightly and nods, warming my heart because I'm so happy that he- this awkward but incredibly sweet guy-found a girl that likes him for who he is.

Who knows, maybe with his help, Johnny and I can actually become friends again. No matter how much resentment I have against Johnny for dumping me like that, a tiny part of me still misses him. He was one of best friends before we started dating, and that was one of the things we lost when we broke up.

"Okay, here's what I'm thinking: Dami loves flowers and picnics, so maybe you can bring her on a picnic date and surprise her with flowers. Nothing too extravagant but still pretty special." I start giving ideas, and Mark immediately begins taking down notes in his phone with furrowed eyebrows. You can tell he's really taking this seriously.

"What kind of flowers, sunflowers, daisies, dandelions...there's so many!" Mark stops typing for a moment and closes his eyes in deep thought. Then his eyes light up and he continues typing on the notes app.

"Red roses! Those are pretty much a symbol of love, aren't they? Oh but I'd have to pick out the thorns first so she doesn't get hurt..." Mark mumbles on but my attention is elsewhere.

"Hey Haera, what do you think of...Haera?" Mark waves his hand in my face, "Hae- oh, hey Lucas."

"Aye Mark, what's up?" He gives Mark a fist bump and sits down next to us.

"Since when were you guys friends?" I raise an eyebrow. Somehow I've never seen then interact before.

Mark looks over to Lucas who proceeds to explain, "We used to hang out a lot when we were kids, but he changed schools for a while and I was so so lonely. But he's came back and I was so so happy." [A/N: Note the 99 liners vlive reference HAHAH okay sorry carry on]

"Okay but then question is, how do you two know each other?" Mark scratches his head and raises an eyebrow, clearly confused about how our relationship came to be.

"She's my girlfriend."

Mark's eyes widen and his jaw drops open. "Oh wow, Haera. I'm surprised you moved on so fast from Johnny but I'm happy for you, don't get me wron-"

"Calm down, Mark. We're not dating, it's a long story but we're just pretending to be dating."

I narrow my eyes at Lucas. "And you, sir-" I poke his chest, "You can't just go around telling people that so nonchalantly."

Lucas pulls my finger off his chest and wraps his hand around it with a smirk, while I proceed to smack his shoulder with my free hand.

"You know what, I'm not even going to ask. Anyway, thanks for the help today, Haera. I'll probably be coming to you for assistance a lot more so be prepared," he gets up from his seat and pauses for a moment before adding with a wink, "And I hope you and Lucas last long. Tell me if he ever hurts you, I'll handle him."

Lucas puts an arm around my shoulder and answers back to Mark, "Don't worry about us, worry about you own relationship. When are you planning to pop the question?"

Mark instantly turns beet red. "Don't say it like that, it sounds like I'm asking Dami to marry me," he glances over at me with a nod and responds determinedly, "I think I'm going to ask her out this weekend."

"Woo, you go, Mark! By next week, you'll be a taken man," I tease. Mark turns even redder while Lucas laughs his ass off beside me.

"Hey Mark, what are you doing? Johnny's waiting for us at-" Jaehyun comes running up to us and immediately stops in his tracks when he spots me.

"Oh hey Haera, how've you been?" he asks, shifting his weight from one foot to the other.

"I've been alright," I get up to face Jaehyun properly, "Come on Jae, stop being so awkward around me, I feel strange now."

He puts his hands up in apology, "Sorry, sorry, I can't help it, things are just a little weird right now."

"Yeah, I get it. But I'm moving on, so you can stop avoiding my gaze when I pass by you in the hallway."

He chuckles a bit, which eases the tension in the room, "So you noticed. But fair enough, I hope we can talk normally now, then."

And then he enters.

We all freeze in our spots as he takes in the scene before him. Mark and Jaehyun look back and forth between him and each other before looking down at the ground awkwardly and scratching their necks.

Lucas, who had been sitting quietly on the chair for a while now, suddenly gets up and stands next to me.

Johnny raises an eyebrow at Lucas, then stares at me. I glance at Lucas, who gives me an encouraging smile, and stare back at Johnny with equal intensity.

Johnny immediately softens up and gives me one last long look before leaving the room, Mark and Jaehyun mumbling goodbyes and then scrambling to chase after him.

"So that was kind of weird," Lucas mutters.
