"She WHAT?" Taeyong shouts into the phone, so loudly that I jump.
"She uninvited Lucas to the wedding," I sigh into the phone once again. I decided to call Taeyong today just to check in on him and see what he thought about the whole situation with Lucas, but it seems like I just dropped a bomb onto him.
"Sera decided to ban my, the groom's, best man from our wedding without even consulting me first?" Taeyong asks again, this time much quieter but at the same time, so much angrier.
The line goes completely silent for a few seconds, except for Taeyong's heavy breathing on the other end.
Taeyong finally speaks up after a while, "Listen, I'll talk to her. For now, don't say anything that'll make her mad, okay?"
"Okay, I'm so sorry about this, Tae. If I hadn't decided to fall in love with Lucas, this wouldn't have—"
"Don't blame yourself, Haera. You can't control who you like. Cheer up, okay? It'll be fine," Taeyong says it like he's trying to cheer me up, but I can tell he's trying to convince himself as well.

"Mom, I'm going to Dami's house. I'll be back by dinner," I call out to Mom but before I can even reach the door, she's already in front of me.
She glances at the stairs and immediately whispers to me in a hushed tone, "Taeyong came over a while ago, and he's talking to your sister about the whole situation. It doesn't seem like it's going well though, so try not to anger her even more, okay sweetie?"
She gives me a kiss on the head before retreating to her room as quietly as she can. I should be going to Dami's right now, but I just can't help myself. I tiptoe up the stairs slowly, the muffled words coming from Sera's room getting louder and louder as I get closer to slightly ajar door.
And then I hear it.
"I just don't understand why you're so against Lucas? He's like a little brother to me, and the fact that you're uninviting him without even telling me first is—"
"Because he's in love with me."
Sera whispers it so quietly that anyone could miss it. But I don't. I catch it perfectly.
I don't get it. There's no way my boyfriend can be in love with my sister. No freaking way.
I refuse to believe it, and from the looks of it, so does Taeyong.
From the tiny crack in the door, I see Taeyong instantly drop his hands at Sera's words. His mouth hangs open ever so slightly, trembling as he stares at Sera's completely serious face.
"You're joking. Sera, please tell me you're joking. You cannot be so narcissistic to think that Lucas, your fiancé's best man and your own sister's boyfriend, is in love with you," Taeyong paces up and down the room with his hands in his hair.
Sera tries to tug on his sleeve but Taeyong pulls his arm away from her instantly.
"Listen to me, Tae. He's been in love with me since we were in college! I'm not lying, he even confessed to me. If you don't think that's messed up, you need to think again. He's probably using Haera to get closer to me and I refuse to let him break her heart."
I can't breathe. All this time, I've been such a fool. Only now, only now that I'm hearing this, everything clicks. Lucas has been acting so weird this whole time and I never noticed. Every time he glanced away awkwardly at the mention of Sera, I was completely oblivious to it. That picture in Sera's room with Lucas in the back, I ignored it. I can't believe I spent all this time falling for his charms when all he wanted was my sister. I can't breathe.
"I'm done," Taeyong sighs before pulling the door open.
Both of them take a double take when they see me standing there. Sera whispers a soft "Haera" and stares at me guiltily. I look up at Taeyong slowly, trying to wipe away the tears as fast as I can so he can't see the pathetic state I'm in. Taeyong reaches out to pat my head, but hesitates before pulling his arm back and walking out.
"Haera, I'm sorry you had to hear tha—" Sera tries to come closer to give me a hug but I push her away.
I rub away the tears, more forcefully this time. "Sorry, Sera. I just...need some time to think right now."
And I finally leave to go to Dami's house.
