I sat at the edge of the wall, staring outside. My feet dangled off the edge, nearly fifty feet from the ground. As I looked down, I saw titans roaming the land that used to be ours.
I closed my eyes and let the breeze pass me by. When it decided that it spent enough of its time on me, it moved on to find something else to cool.
"Del..."
One is only as free as their mind. If only that was physically true.
"Del..."
If only I could have wandered this earth without the fear of being eaten or violently torn to bits.
"Del!"
"I thought you were mad at me," I said.
"Just clean the cannons," Jonathan sighed. I stood up. "It is hard enough getting to you when your head is always in the clouds."
"Do you blame me?" I asked. "Everyone's so boing."
"Well, thanks," Jonathan smirked.
"Not mad anymore?"
"You know I can't stay mad at you no matter how hard I try," he shrugged. "Now if I show you something fun to do, would you love me again?"
I pretended to think about it. "Maybe. Depends on what it is."
Jonathan held out a pouch of pebbles. At first I was confused as to why that would impress me, but he explained it to me.
"Want to throw some off the edge?" He asked.
"I guess so," I said. I grabbed a handful of pebbles.
"Okay, so let's aim for a titan and see who can throw it closest to the titan," Jonathan stated.
"Okay, first of all," I stopped him, "how are we supposed to tell if this itsy bitsy pebble made it off the wall and onto a titan. Second, how are we even supposed to hit the titans if the closest ones are miles away.
"I said closest," Jonathan reiterated. "I didn't say we had to hit them square on."
"Okay," I yawned. "If that's the most fun thing you can come up with." I scanned the environment and spotted the nearest titan. I pointed at it. "How about that sucker over there?"
Jonathan nodded.
We both took a pebble into our hand drew it back.
"Three," I counted, "Two, one!"
We both threw it and watched as both pebbles fell terribly short before they became too small for us to see them. However, Jonathan's pebble flew a lot further than mine.
I stared at him.
"What?" He stared at me. "My pebble was probably more aerodynamic." When I didn't respond, he spoke up again. "What?"
I sighed. "Never mind." I could tell he was confused, which was better for him.
Twice, he had proven he was stronger than me, yet he was always pretending he had the same strength as me. I always assumed it was to spare my feelings, but it's been bothering me lately. Especially how he used his strength to beat up Armin.
"Let's go again," I said, taking out another pebble.
"Grab a few," he stated. "I want to try something out." I did as he said. "Let's see if we can hear them hit the ground if we listen closely."
"That's impossible," I retorted.
"Come on," he urged. "Let's just do it for fun."
I grabbed a few more pebbles. "Alright. Three, two, one!"
